is chipotle mexican grill a good place for healthy eating?

I have started to eat their burrito bowls- no flour and I ask for 1/2 the rice. it is very filling, and it seems like very healthy food. does anyone else eat here on a regular basis?

I love Chipotle and after reading about the founder, I like it even more. He is a trained chef and his focus is on quality, fresh ingredients, and he uses free range pork and hormone free sour cream :) I just have to watch my calories there b/c the portions are so big. I think your idea of skipping the tortilla and getting 1/2 the rice is a good one! enjoy!

This website - chipoltefan - has a nutrition calculator so you can add up what you get and see how many calories are in it (give and take the individual who is serving you's interpretation of "half").
I was surprised that even though I get veggie bowl w/ 1/2 rice and 1/2 beans it was still higher than a typical meal is for me (I use guac but not cheese or sour cream)- but i love it so i still save it for 1x/month or so as a treat. Also watch out for sodium.
If you are a man then the amount of calories would be more appropriate if you eat it regularly.

I get the burrito bowl with lettuce instead of rice and sour cream on the side. It tastes just as good and less calories.

390 calories
14 g fat

Not That:

Chipotle Steak Burrito
1,033 calories
40 g fat

Save 643 calories and 26 grams of fat!

Chipotle also has a salad, which has more lettuce than the bowl- if you aren't getting rice. I usually don't even need the dressing because the salsa is flavor enough!

Taco Bell is filled with chemicals and pesticides, Chipotle is all natural. Something t think about. You can always eat less, hold the cheese etc.

Yeah, I agree with the previous poster. I don't think that a taco bell burrito and a chipotle burrito can even be compared. Chipotle is pretty high in calories, but it has to be better for you than taco bell, and is WAY more satisfying.

Whatever you choose to get at Chipotle, either split it with someone, or take the part of it home.

I can't do Chipotle when i am on a diet, b/c their best stuff is the 1000 calorie + stuff - otherwise I feel like I am eating salad only at a fancy steak place - not right - love their burrito's ...must...resist...

It's hard to eat low cal there

Ok so it may be fresh, but doing the math, the lowest I can calculate ANYTHING from there is a salad bowl down to about 475cal (lettuce, tomatoes, corn, beans, veggies, & cheese) Add chicken and your up to 665cal . Its not bad, but its not great either.

I can make a better salad at the salad bar at the supermarket.

Keep in mind, if you get a salad the dressing is an extra 300cal!
If you want a burrito the tortilla alone is 290cal.

You can eat there but you really have to cut corners, no tortilla, no sour cream, no guac, no rice...
its not even worth it for me to go.

It's not too bad for you if you skip the rice and the tortilla. I think, based on the calculator and several iterations, that just the tortilla is around 500 calories. So, skipping it makes a HUGE difference!

But, when I get my fajita bowl, lettuce instead of rice, no meat, I'm still starving afterwards!
