Heard the same thing. Could mean many things. Could mean that they just want to reorganize so they can resume functioning as a company without crushing debt. Who knows. have heard many explanations. Have heard he was overweight, really overweight, when he passed away (Mr. Atkins, himself)

Lost weight on atkins?

Any diet that you can eat bacon, cheese, burgers, and really fatty foods without a balance seems suspect....how could that possibly be good nutritionally? Has anyone here really lost weight doing atkins? I'd be so curious....I've heard you can, just do not know of anyone personally.

Protein Power Plan

I'm not sure how similar atkins and the protein power plan are, but my parents went on the protein power plan two years ago and dropped a ton of weight. Even though they were eating bacon and cheese like everyday my dad's blood pressure went down among other things, he was the healthiest he'd been in long time according to the Dr.'s.

However, they both gained all of it back within a year and a half. Life changed for them temporarily and they both stopped following the plan mostly due to stress (death in the family).

I do not believe ANYONE can stay on such a restrictive diet as akins or protein power plan for their entire life. I encourage a healthy, balanced EATING PLAN (I don't like the word diet because it indicates temporary change).

My parents also lost weight doing Atkins. They started in the winter, and every morning my dad was eating omelettes filled with cheese and salami, they ate steak for dinner or hamburgers w/o a bun, they went to fast food restaurants and ordered double (or sometimes triple!) cheeseburgers, but w/o the bun, and they totally lost weight! And their blood pressure went down. But then during the summer, they didn't like eating such heavy foods, and they basically just got sick of it, and started eating fruits, salads, etc., and pretty much all the weight came back. My mom thought, for awhile, that she could do low fat all summer and low carb all winter, but, she cheats too often and she gains pretty much everything back every time she loses anything...

So... If you really like heavy foods and don't mind giving up things like fresh fruits, Atkins may work well in the short term. In the long term, though, I would think that you're just not getting the nutrients you need!

They couldn't drink milk or eat yogurt, they couldn't drink orange juice in the mornings, they couldn't eat most beans, etc., it's a lot of things that you wouldn't think about, because it's not just cutting the bad carbs, it's cutting all carbs.
