Getting Your Body Back

Hi, for those of you who have had a child, what did you do to get your body back?

First of all, enjoy this time with your baby. You'll have the rest of your life to worry about your weight. However, if you want to start slim and trimming up, here are some things I did to help. Work out with the baby. You can do all sorts of exercises that involve lifting the baby, or holding him/her while you do squats, push-ups beside, etc. That way, your baby is the focus of your activity, not just working out. It's so much more fun that way! I went to aquacize classes at our community pool once a week, which was easier on my body and it also gave my husband a chance to bond with the baby with me not around. Because you probably don't have much time to cook, make up salads in advance and eat out of them for a few days, or buy ones pre-made at the grocery store. I ate a lot of Lean Cuisines, Smart Ones, and other pre-portioned frozen dinners just because they were ready in a few minutes. Those, with a salad, can be a good way to lose some weight. Also, drink lots of water, and make sure you don't cut out milk. Be careful how much you cut back, especially if you are breastfeeding. You want to enjoy this time with your new baby, not worry too much about your body. It will recover naturally, quite a bit on its own. Good luck!

I recommend investing in a high quality stroller, and get a rain-proof cover. This will encourage you to take daily walks with baby, which benefits both of you. I tried to get a walk in most days-even living in Minnesota. It helped body and soul, to get outside and walk off my worries. Also, have smoothie ingredients on hand-yogurt, frozen or fresh fruit, and vitamin or protein powders, if you like them (Arbonne makes a delicious one) so you can whip up something healthy, and drink it with one hand while you hold baby with the other.
Cherish these days-children grow so fast. Good luck!
