Bruising
Does anyone else bruise when they workout? This has happened to me as long as I can remember. They're not horrible bruisies, but if I workout I get random bruises on my arms and legs. I'm not hitting against anything, and I'm pretty sure I'm not getting in fights in my sleep....anyway, just curious to see if anyone else has experienced this or knows why it happens.

That sounds unusual. You may want to check with your doctor to see what is going on....

When I lost a lot of weight in the past (in an unhealthy manner), I bruised very easily. I'm certain it was because I was not getting the proper nutrition my body needed (probably iron). I'm not saying this is what you're doing, but that was my experience. The previous poster is right though, you should probably talk to your doctor.

Not only low iron can cause bruising but other sorts of diseases and blood disorders can as well. Definitely talk to your doctor.

I used to get bruises on my shoulders when I did calf lifts or squats with a barbell (not just a body bar, a barbell with heavy weights requiring a spotter...that was a LOONG time ago). I was concerned and went to my doctor because with my training I constantly had marks there...there was never time for them to heal. My doc tested my iron levels and they were actually fine, she came to the conclusion that I was just bursting the capillaries near the skin's surface from the repeated pressure of the weight. I started using more padding (or a collar when using the barbell) and the bruising more or less stopped. So...it might just be pressure from the exercises you're doing but I would definitely agree with the other posters, get your iron levels checked.

I'm the OP
I had my iron levels tested about 8 years ago, but it might be a good idea to get it checked again. I try to eat well balanced meals, but my grandmother is anemic so it's well worth getting checked out. I will schedule an appointment with my doc.
Thanks for the advice everyone.

You should for sure talk to your doctor about this. I also bruise very easily and use a homeopathic medicine called Arnica. It come in both a gel to rub on the bruise and little sugar tablets to take internally. It's a all natural supplement that helps with the healing process of bruises or soarness. It couldn't hurt, ask your doctor what he/she thinks. You can buy it in most health food stores.

Definitely talk to the doctor. I used to hear that my bruises were a vitamin deficity. I think a doctor could shed some light on the subject.

FYI, Arnica isn't specifically for bruising- it's for increasing circulation- this has different effects on different people. My mother uses it for her arthritis on occasion, but her homeopath has told her not to tell others to use it for arthritis (my mom has a bad habit of diagnosing others, but she's not the one with the phd)
