How Much Weight Did You Put On / Take Off Over The Holidays ?
Even the greatest laid plans can go askew. Considering I didn't go to the gym for two weeks, and I enjoyed all the holiday yummies I thought that my 5 lb gain really wasn't too bad. Just have to crank it up in january.
Just wondering how others fared through the holiday season?
Wed. Jan 2, 4:29pm
Since I came down with the flu at Christmas I actually lost 3lbs for the month. I think that is pretty good since I was not really watching too close on what I was eating.
Wednesday, January 2, 2008, 5:49 PM
I exercised almost as much as usual but didn't resist the sweets (especially chocolate). I gained 2 pounds.
Wednesday, January 2, 2008, 6:00 PM
For the month of December, I recorded a 2-lb gain.
Thankfully I went to the gym as usual or else it would have been much worse.
Wednesday, January 2, 2008, 6:06 PM
I stayed the same. I worked out or went on power walks as usual. At special meals I had a small amount of whatever I wanted. I turned 50 between Christmas and New Years. I realize that weight loss and fitness is about consistency. After a big meal I would organize the walk with all the dogs...great fun for the people and the dogs. My nieces wanted to spend time with me so I suggested a drop in Pilates class. They loved it. When I baked some goodies I saved a few for the house and gave the rest away as gifts or took it to work.

I gained 1/2 pound - not bad. I exercised the same through the month, but ate more and then there was that box of sees candy....
Wednesday, January 2, 2008, 8:26 PM
I've gained 3 lbs over the holidays which is up 3 more pounds from the 3lbs I gained on summer vacay and never was motivated enough to lose. Now I really need to get back on track.
Wednesday, January 2, 2008, 9:35 PM
I lost a steady 1 lb per week through the 3 weeks of the holiday season! It's a Christmas miracle!
Thursday, January 3, 2008, 12:05 AM
from Thanksgiving to New Years I lost 9 lbs - sticking to my plan, exercising and also having occasional indulgences... but I didn't drink so much alcohol - that really makes me eat a lot more.

I gained 1lb. I was on holiday in Morocco and did lots and lots of walking, but didn't make any attempt to stay on a diet. Had 3 meals a day (hotel breakfasts, what are these people thinking of?), but for the most part it was easy to eat healthily because the Moroccan meals consisted of a lot of protein and salad, with not too much carbohydrate.

Considering I got hardly any exercise and I ate terribly, I'm happy with staying the same. It was a good lesson though - I felt like crud! Even one day of better eating and exercise made me feel about 10lbs lighter.

up 4 lbs - ready to cry. :(
Thursday, January 3, 2008, 10:08 AM
Don't cry - 10:08am! Just turn it around right now so it's not 5 pounds, then 6, then 7 and so on. We can't change anything we can only do better right now.

I'm about the same, which is amazing considering the stress we were under this year and the amount of time spent on the road. I only had two really bad days all season (by which I mean two days in which I ate whatever I wanted, lots of junk food). For the most part I indulged pretty sensibly. However, workouts went by the wayside.
Still--maintaining during the holidays is a definite success.

lost 3 lbs over Thanksgiving, but then stayed the same through today. Did not exercise nearly as much as I should have!!
but I am so motivated to do better now that I am back into a routine!
So sick of the food hangover!!!
Thursday, January 3, 2008, 11:51 AM
i gained 4 freakin' pounds with 2 weeks off from working out. This is all the weight that I lost over the 6 weeks that I've been on PeerTrainer.
Though... after closer look at my posts I can see that my cheating really started the week before christmas!
Now that I'm back at work and eating healthy again I'm starving!
That's a good sign!

Lost 10 lbs... logging my food daily helped
Thursday, January 3, 2008, 4:44 PM
I lost one pound. Not bad considering I didn't bother with a diet, even though sweets have never been my weakness. I did drink a lot with friends, and I ran a few times. Huzzah.
Thursday, January 3, 2008, 5:27 PM
I'm trying to maintain mostly, but from Thanksgving to New Year's I lost a pound and a half. That was with one full week of not working out and one good week of eating a lot Christmas cookies! I think my metabolism must have revved up or something!
Thursday, January 3, 2008, 5:58 PM
I too am in maintenance mode and I stayed the same. Pretty happy considering we were out of town a ton and I was sick and not able to work out!
Thursday, January 3, 2008, 8:06 PM
Since 12/11/07:
Lost 3.2#
3/4" from hips
1" from thigh
4 1/2" from waist!
Thursday, January 3, 2008, 8:19 PM
Lost .2 pound since end of November lol. Since food isn't a big among my immediate family during the holidays, I know I could have lost a couple pounds (only have about 20 pounds to lose, btw) in December...didn't watch what I put in my mouth and ate enough to stabilize my weight. Oh well.

Bonus jump Start
I was lucky depending on how you look at it. I was sick at the end of December and ended up loosing 6 pounds, in one-half days amazingly. Anyway, figured it would be right back on when I felt better. But I have managed to keep it off. It was a great way to kick start my weight loss.

I haven't weighed myself but I measured my hips are up 3 inches and my waist 2 inches. I fell into old habits of eating cookies while at home. Definitely feels good to exercise and eat fruit and veggies last couple of days.
Friday, January 4, 2008, 9:48 AM
I gained 3.5lbs over the last two holiday weeks, but after 3 days of eating strictly healthy again, I'm down 1.2lbs from my pre-holiday low. So basically, it was a lot of water.

my fat ass gained about 5 pounds. I just now started eating healthy. I still have my sweet tooth though
Friday, January 4, 2008, 3:54 PM
I gained one pound and Im happy with that!!!
Friday, January 4, 2008, 4:25 PM
Mixed Message
I gained 2 lbs from the 13 days traveling, visiting friends, & family and indulging in holiday foods without access to foraml exercise.
I'm glad it wasn't more but it does show me that not being in my home and in control of having enough veggies/fruits/healthy options/ and access to my gym is just an unworable challenge for me AT THIS POINT>

OP Here
What I find interesting is how the body remembers. Just by going back to my reg eating habits, I have already lost 4 lbs in 3 days, so the way I look at it, I had a blast over the holidays and really enjoyed myself, and unfortunatly put a bit of weight on but ..... didn't beat myself up about it. It was worth it, and now life returns to normal.
