Hvae you lost your belly?

And by belly I mean a gut! When I was younger I guess it was cute and poofy but as I got older it got droopier and bigger, then smaller with weight loss. Now it just sort of hangs there. I understand I have to build up my muscles more to see a difference but...Can I ever acheive a flat stomach having been a gut owner all my life? Has anyone shed their belly by diet and exercise alone?

YES

I wouldn't have believed it, but it is possible. I've carried a poochy belly all my life, and after having a child a few years ago, I was sure I'd never get rid of it. As recently as last summer, when I'd lost the majority of the weight I wanted to lose (80 lbs. out of 100), I told my husband I thought I'd eventually have to get liposuction or a tummy tuck.

Then I started seeing a personal trainer, pointed out the belly as one of the areas I wanted to work on, and he started me on an ab regimen as part of my daily workout. It consists of about 8 exercises and doesn't even take me 10 minutes. I can see a HUGE difference in my belly after just a month. I am sure that pretty much any ab video you could buy would be pretty similar, and if you do it every day you would definitely see results. Obviously, you should be eating healthy and doing other exercise as well, but add that in and you'll be suprised.

I'm not the OP, but it's so good to hear from someone who has nearly finished losing 100 lbs (wow - Congratulations!!!) and isn't having a problem with her stomach. I keep looking at my "apron" and wondering how weird it will look when I'm further deflated.

I remember it was okay in the 90s to work your abs every day, and then it changed to every other day as with the other muscle groups. I guess the current ab wisdom has changed back to daily...

I am 5 feet 2 inches and weigh 110 lbs and still have a pooch belly. It has been with me since I was a fat toddler. Am impressed and motivated towards getting a flat belly now.

I don't think I'll ever lose mine -- I've been really skinny before and still had it. I have a high-stress job, though -- that's one of the things about the stress hormone cortisol, it will make you put fat on your stomach first, and it will keep in there, too!
