what happened to the ghost thread?

I was not any of the posters, but I was really getting into reading them. Towards the end it was reading a cat fight or soap opera.

I think that catty post got it deleted by Peer Trainer. Did you read it? It was very *itchy

I'm wondering if the "catty post" was what I wrote about saying hello to people when they join your group? certianly wasn't catty - my group didn't greet a couple of people who then seemed to become ghosts, just an observation

that was not catty at all. The one I am talking about was saying things like petty and vindictive and like leaving the group or starting a sep. group with a different name...

What I read as the catty post was the original post. Thinking that someone is "lurking" because they haven't logged when it could be a zillion reasons, most having nothing to do with the other members, and then complaining about the group gets irritating to read. Start another group. Join another group. There are many members on here. No need to waste your time complaining about someone when you can leave at anytime.

I am not bitter. I am a little tired of the complaining, that's all.

Ah well, I suspect the post that most ppl seem to have found catty was mine. It made 2 points and i'm not sure which one got it deleted.
If I repeat them maybe they'll delete this thread too.
But I shall try to explain without getting us deleted again.

My first point stated a practical method for the OP to reclaim the "raison d'etre" (the group name/description) that they were anxious about.
If the OP is really desperate to reclaim this I'm sure s/he will soon work it out for themselves, though I don't think it would be a nice thing to do.

My second point expressed annoyance (like one of the above posters) at the abundant whining regarding non-active posters, and my belief that wanting to oust a group member was being "petty" and somewhat paranoid. At least, there are plenty of ppl in my groups who don't have profiles and I really don't think they are spending every waking minute spying on me.

If anyone is really worried about disclosing personal information to strangers then maybe they should create private group, as opposed to a public one. I find recent suggestions of voting people off groups to be especially alarming and in poor taste.

I didn't think I was catty - certainly not after the OP had been allowed to call someone on here a "lump" - but maybe this is one of those cultural differences.

same points but this one lacks the emotional anger that was laced through out your previous post. But thank you for responding!

The perfect solution for you is to form a private group - that way you know who is reading your posts. But I also think these ghosts are just people who joined up but didn't follow through. They aren't reading your posts at all.

Exactly, The OP of the original thread, who is scared of the "lurker", this is not about you. It is most likely not personal. Move on. Create another group. Join another group. Do what you came here to do, whatever your goal is.
