How did you do on Christmas?

Interested in how you did during the day long feasting. I managed to get away with only eating 4 cookies and one piece of candy (other than health meals). I decided to try to be aware and not loose "myself" in the rituals. I really enjoyed myself all day and focused more on just listening to people. However, the last 2 cookies and candy were compulsive. I feel I learned something very important. The pleasure is never worth going against my own inner truth. I had a real sense of loss for my own inner truth. I think I am a little stronger for the insight and right back on track today.

Sometimes the best things about Christmas eating are:

- the realization that all that healthy eating really does make you feel better physically (sugar coma, anyone??)
- the renewed motivation to get your weight back on track after such an excess
- and sometimes realizing that one or two foods that you once loved don't hold much appeal for you anymore

I allowed myself to have whatever I wanted on Christmas day. I really over-indulged. I must say I feel pretty bad today, and it wasn't worth it. But, it sure did taste good. I'm back on track today and not feeling guilty.

Absolutely 12:06. It was a real surprise. Without the food meaning love, pleasure, family, it is just what it is, usually something too sweet or fatty that doesn't make us feel that good.

I was amazed at how my body is reacting to those foods that I used to eat on a regular basis. Besided my stomach bothering me I am so thirsty that it is annoying.
But it is a realization. Though the foods tasted good, I don't get what I used to out of them. It is no longer the comfort I seek.
I spent two days having whatever I wanted and do not feel guilty and I ate no where near what I used to. That was a good feeling. I just look forward to seeing the continual change.

I had what ever I wanted and I felt uncomfortable and sick afterward. I didn't eat huge amounts of dinner, but lots of snacks, chocolates, chips, shrimps, etc. right before dinner. Still don't feel quite right today. Great aversion therapy !

My stomach hurts too becasue I'm not use to eating all that fat and sugar. It was gross and I'm glad it's over.

I decided to have my desert very late in the evening when I knew I would be leaving in a short while. This helped because I didn't "get started" early and then have to struggle trying to stop. It also meant that I could look forward to it and not feel deprived.

for me christmas day was ok, but what's been hard are the cookies at work, candies etc. I had tastes here and there. It's a little hard getting back to my regimen. Around this time, there's food all around, especially sweets, that I haven't indulged in in a long time. I need some words of advice on how to get back on the diet wagon. Again, I've veered off only slightly, but the holidays have open the floodgates or something.

5:18am - I hear ya! What worked for me was putting on a pair of pants that used to fit well at my lowest weight. When I see the bulges and feel the pinching - that's all I need to get back on the wagon.

Just make up your mind to get back on track. I only indulged one day and that was the actual holiday so it was hard to go back to my normal regimen yesterday but I forced myself. One or two days then you'll see it's easy to get back on... don't forget, water water water to detox all that bad stuff out of your system.

5:18 For me "the I feel like ____" did not come from the guilt of overeating but came from the potential loss of a joyous healthy mind and life style, the loss of clarity and the freedom from being caught in food issues. And, it helps to share this lesson so I will remember it next time the circumstances come around. Thanks.

I decided to let myself have whatever I wanted, but only if I really loved it, and to not eat any of anything I didn't really like. So I ate a few shortbread cookies, but not really any other dainties; lots of fish, but no potatoes and gravy (they don't do much for me anyway!) I also had waaaay smaller portions than other years at Christmas, but was still full!

I think it worked alright, but we'll see what the scale says when I get home! The really nice part was being just comfortably full when everyone around me is saying that they feel sick, they're so full!

I had a normal sized dinner with only a few cookies for dessert. No extra candies or pastries were around our house, so it worked out fine. I didn't cook too much since there are only four of us and we had soup from the leftovers. Easy schmeezy. I feel good about not having too much.

After all, its only food. Not life. Life is what happens when you aren't eating!!
