Quasi-healthy sweet treats

Something I will have occasionally is a piece of 70% chocolate on top of a piece of candied ginger. Yummy. And I'm sure you have heard the health benefits associated with dark chocolate and with ginger. Another treat I will indulge in occasionally is Halvah (sweetened ground sesame seeds - high in calcium).

Anyone else have at least quasi-healthy treat ideas they would like to share?

Halvah defended, sort of

Yes, there are typically 450 calories in 100 g (3.5 oz) of halvah. The link below gives 150 calories for a 28g (1 oz) serving (which does not represent the whole candy bar (3 ozs) depicted. It's rich stuff though, not the sort of thing I need more than small piece of.

DH has made his own with our Magic Bullet (love that thing) and honey (and sesame seeds of course). Same flavor, less fat. Not only calcium but high in copper too.

Anything indulged in moderately and occasionally is fine. What makes us fat is the inability to exercise that kind of restraint.

I sometimes enjoy a banana drizzled with a little bit of fat-free caramel ice cream topping. I realize the caramel isn't healthy just because it's fat-free, but it beats putting a whole bunch of the same topping on ice cream. I also like cinnamon-sugar sprinkled on a banana.

I'll openly admit to choosing the real junk more often, but I always feel good when I don't.

I use gelatin and 100% fruit juice to make jello. Not exactly low in sugar, but at least chemical free.

Ooo, I love the gelatin/juice suggestion! That reminds me that I have discovered this jam of sorts: St. Dalfour Deluxe Spread. I buy the Blackcurrant variety. It's just bursting with flavor and sweetened with grape juice concentrate. Just the tiniest bit on a slice of whole wheat toast and it's oh so good.

I like half of a banana with peanut butter, rolled in granola. I think it ends up being a bit under 200 calories, which fits well into my eating plan.
