How do you beat this feeling?
I'm having one of those days, I feel fat, bloated, I hate my stretch marks, I hate my cellulite and my bra seems to f*cking tight!
Yuck :o|
Fri. Nov 16, 10:11am
You're only having a day??! I'm so envious! I'm having one of those years! Ha. It does suck, doesn't it?
How do I fight it? I don't look in the mirror, I don't step on a scale, I put on my stretchy pants and I drink a TON of water! I also put on makeup, do my hair, and make plans for a change. Sigh. Just remember, it's only temporary! And we choose which direction we go!

I pursue a natural brain chemical high - sex, exercise, and sugar are the only ways I know to do this. For reasons of sanity and waistline, I end up going for a walk. A really long one. Outside. In my best workout gear. Clears my head and makes me feel very proactive, strong, resolute.

how I USED to feel
I used to want to stay in a closet until I lost weight. I hated how I felt about myself. But I took it slow, lost the weight and now I LOVE being out and dont feel bad about that anymore.. after you start to see some little results like looser pants, it gave me motivatin to move on.. every step of the way motivated me an another way.. closer to how I wanted to feel like. Its a GREEEAAAAAT feeling.

I can't emphasize how important exercise is in helping your mood. If I skip a few workouts I can feel it reflected in my mood; I'm anxious and depressed. Working out lifts that feeling. i didn't believe this for quite a long time but as they say, the proof is in the pudding.

Exercise, sleep, social contact and diet are all major components of how I feel about myself and how well I deal with stress. Doesn't matter how virtuous I've been with one I need at least 2, prefereably 3 to feel 'good' and when all 4 are happening as they should, I feel on top of the world no matter what curveballs life throws my way.
But I do know what you mean and that feeling isn't something that goes away overnight. However as you consistently do right for your body, mind and spirit I think you will find it gets lighter and lighter.

I came to the lounge to start just such a thread. I have been slipping, resolving, slipping, resolving, slipping for the last couple of weeks. Today I actually considered throwing in the towel completely. I love 10:34's comment. My two weeks of misery seems diminished.
I agree that exercise helps, but if I try to exercise alone and it's miserable and I give up, I plummet further. (Been there, done that, this week in fact). I'm thinking of checking if there are any exercise classes at my gym. It's a lot harder to give up in a group setting.
But first, I'm going to brush my teeth (after which no food shall enter my mouth today) and straighten my hair and put my makeup on.
Hope you're finding ways out of the trenches of depression too.

Focus on how far you have come not how far you have to go.
I have A LOT of weight to lose but like one persone said, as you lose you see differences. The pants getting looser, my clothes are really getting baggy. Thankfully I have others I can use. But it is a wonderful thing to lose weight and be proud of yourself.
The best thing you can do to help you stick with it is to find foods you love that are low in calories. That is the main reason I have been able to stick with it.
Finally I have found something I can live with, you can too.
Blessings to all,

You do something, just one thing, that will help you feel otherwise. Maybe it's making a good choice at lunch or going for even a walk. Anything that will make you feel like you've taken a step in the right direction.

I agree. Little steps are the key! Paint your nails, take a bath, drink some water, eat a balanced meal, do your makeup, do your hair, clean out your cabinets, exercise, write down your goals...don't punish yourself. You've done enough of that. Now it's time to love yourself...at every stage of your journey!

I hate that feeling. I call them 'bad body image days.' You have to eat though, I stop eating and it just maes me feel worse. Try not to do too much, put your feet up and try to distract by watching films, or focusing on something else so you don't have to feel so bad.
