I clean mine out all the time!

I keep the staples, fruits, veggies, milk, eggs, bread, bottled water, and soda for the hubbie...left overs get thrown out after 2 days.

I never did understand how people can let food of all things rot and ferment in their fridge. This is a disgusting habit and pure laziness.

Icky icky! Bravo to those of you that are taking initiative to clean out your fridge, just keep it up, don't wait till next year! Ha!

Oh I'm pretty good about keeping up with day-to-day stuff like milk, veggies, lunch meat, etc... What can pile up is all the condiments, pickles, bottles of wine, packages of tortillas and things that don't go bad so quickly.

A good reminder to thin things out a bit - thanks!

9:57 - the condiments and salad dressings, etc. get me, too! I think I'll go do another purge of the refrigerator right now.

Geez 10:58 - I had no idea how disgusting and lazy I was! Who knew?

I go shopping every Monday. Some time ago I decided it would make more sense to put the new groceries in a clean fridge so I clean it every Sunday. Easy peasy. If you do it every week, it gets to be a habit, and it's quick. No time for things to fester or stick until crusty, oozy, fuzzy or stinky...

I cleaned my fridge before I started my new lifestyle and one of the best things I did was bring all fruits and veggies to the top two shelves, right at eye level. No more crisper drawer where I can forget about them. I also labeled all shelves, so that I'd not only get organized, but stay organized. When the groceries come in each week, the leftovers and stuff I don't like or shouldn't eat go out. I have no mercy about throwing food away.

It's the eye level that gets me--I'm 5' 10" with a 20 year old freezer-on-top fridge. Eye level for me is just over the top. If I could open the door and see what's inside without bending over, I might be more conscientious about removing those almost empty jellly jars!
