Nail Biting
I am 34 woman. I'm a lawyer. I bite my nails like a little kid. HELP! (I reserve the right to discuss a topic that may have been discussed previously this milennium)

If I have a nice polish on them I wont bite 'em. Try getting a manicure.

Me, too! But, I do find that I stay away from them if I paint them. I'll even put color on them - to shame myself into growing them out ;) It worked.

They make polish that is extraordinarily bitter that keeps you from biting your nails. My husband bites his nails constantly and I always threaten him with polishing his nails with it while he sleeps, ha :)

Thank you for this topic. I am thirty four and professional. I bite my nails and always have. I can't stop. I don't even know I am doing it half the time. I get fake nails and then when I stop getting them done the real nails underneath are so weak they break right off and I am left with nothing but fingers in my mouth. I have no solution. I have tried the nail biter stuff and painting them too to no avail. I am just glad I am not alone!! :)

I am 46 still have bouts with nail-biting,especially when iam nervous or anxious.I don't like fake nails on me or to much polish either.I am trying to learn to deal with stress in different ways like exercising or meditating.

I just stay with fake nails to avoid biting my own. It's the ONLY thing that works for me despite trying everything else.

I was a nail biter for years, like all my life. Then I had a guy say something to me and that was the end of it. I was so embarrassed by it I couldn't do it any more. It has been 15 years now.
It may take different things for different people. I hope you find your way out.

I bite my nails all the time, especially as of late. I remember my dad telling me to stop biting my nails at 3 years old (I'm 25 now)! All I keep telling myself is "at least your not eating". It's just a nervous thing with me. I've stopped before, but eventually I always come back. I try, as much as possible, not to do it in public, but it's almost like a comfort thing. It's really embarrassing. I may as well be sucking my thumb!
Well, I could be smoking, drinking, or doing drugs for comfort. I guess it's not so bad.

i go through bouts of nail biting. i was really bad as a kid but have been able to control myself in recent years. however, when i'm stressed beyond control before i've realized it, i've bitten them all to the point where they bleed. i'm still in a stressful situation, so i'm doing the fake nails. but i keep them short and pink and white so they look pretty natural. my tech does a good job of shaping them just right and keeping them from looking like huge plastic blobs... i still pick at them, at any sign of lifting i pick at it til half the nail is gone, i'm always having to have them repaired between backfills.
