Can I still drink my 2 glasses of wine every day and lose weight?
I have a very stressful life - 2 children under 3 and the only way I can think about getting through the evening time is having a couple glasses of wine. I want to get back to my pre-preg weight and I need to still lose about 15 pounds to get there. Anyone done this? Meaning, drank a couple glasses of wine a day and still lost weight? thanks for all of your help, whoever answers.

some people can. I cannot.

yeah you can lose weight but weight loss all has to do with calories. also, you should limit your alcohol consumption to just a few times a week because more increases your risk of breast and other cancers. maybe you should doing something else than drink alcohol to de-stress you...like taking a bath or something...getting a massage during your free time..cuz you want to set a good example to your kids, ya know?

This is the third "I don't want to give up my alcohol habit" thread in the past week. You all need a group. Maybe call it On the Road to AA.

I can drink a small amount with dinner, but a couple glasses a night is not doable for me. Two 5 oz glasses of wine (consider measuring what you put in a glass) contains ~240 calories which is breakfast for me! I would not be able to lose weight if I had to allocated 250 calories for wine. That would only leave me 1000 calories for the rest of the day and that's really, really going to be uncomfortable unless you are incredibly vigilant about eating nothing but steamed veggies and white-fleshed fish or something. Anyway maybe you are one of the lucky ones who can eat more and still lose weight, but I can't. Consider finding a different 'reward'?

"the only way I can think about getting through the evening time is having a couple glasses of wine."
That is a big warning to you that you are likely an abuser of alcohol! Alcohol is an addictive drug. It can be used recreationally by some people, but as soon as it turns into something that you need, it becomes a problem.
Try not having the couple glasses of wine for a few nights in a row. Make the nights something enjoyable for you - make yourself a bubble bath and settle in with a new novel that you treat yourself to; rent a cheesy movie; start making a scrapbook of the early pics of your two young kids. Anything to distract you that you think is enjoyable and stress-relieving. See how you feel after those couple days. If you really can't handle not drinking, then you have a problem with alcohol, and should address that problem before thinking about how to lose weight while indulging. If you can handle it, then you've just discovered a few new ways to cope with stress, and you then know that you don't need the alcohol, so you can begin limiting it to a couple nights a week or on special occasions, or one small glass instead of a couple.

The answer to your question is NO, you cannot. Wine especially has ALOT of empty calories and ALOT of sugar. I bet you anything if you give up the wine, right away you'll lose a lot of weight! Kinda like soda...Stop consuming pop and the weight will drop! and FAst! I too like wine but I might have a glass after dinner evry few weeks and that's ok. But if I have a few glasses everynight then for sure I pack on the pounds (and I weigh 110 and have a fast metabolism). So just stop, and I promise you you'll lose weight fast!!
