Winter Blues II- Oasis Room

My boyfriend and I came up with several ways to combat SAD which he actually patented into an "Oasis Room" and are being built in a couple college study room and libraries here at schools in the Northeast (Suffolk University for instance).

- Keep a humidifier going any time I am in my room (have roomates)

- lavender oil helps keep depression at bay- but citrus scents are good too

- make sure you get Vitamin B to manage the stress from everyday life (Niacin is good)

- I use "daylight" bulbs in the lamps I read with and am around most. You can get these daylight spectrum bulbs at Whole Foods or similar (maybe even the net) they actually say something like Happy Lights I think.

- Drink plenty of water to keep your cells hydrated ( I understand you divide your weight in half and that's the amount of ounces you should have daily)

- Color is important as well I am partial to butter and yellow for walls in winter(not my own of course) I get my fix of this color therapy at a yoga class

- Hot Power/Vinyasa yoga is amazing particularly Baron Baptiste. It makes me feel like I am in the tropics doing yoga- LOVE IT!
