I may have a hormone issue...any ideas?
Hi Everybody,
I'm 23 and I'm a fairly active girl. I'm overweight, but not in a HUGE way. I've been dieting and eating healthy for the last couple of months, working out almost every day, haven't had any extreme weight loss (which isn't the problem).
I haven't done drugs, I'm not pregnant (took four tests), I have no eating disorders, am not under extreme stress (just normal amount of school and work issues), but I havent had my period in about three months. I also have had a noticeably dimished sex drive. Any ideas as to what this could be?
The only big change in my life in the last few months has been my increase in cardio and workouts in general. I'm a little worried. I'm 23, I should have a sex drive....wtf?

Your best bet is to go to your OB/GYN and talk to him/her, have your hormone levels and thyroid checked, get a pregnancy test, etc. .

also have a blood test on day three of your period called FSH and E2. This will tell you if have PCOS-policystic ovarian sydrome.

I second the PCOS suggestion. The top 3 symptoms that doctors look for are irregular periods, weight gain and excess facial hair. If they balk at the tests, insist. 5-10% of women have this and it goes undiagnosed. Most respond to a cheap drug (I think it's an insulin regulator, but I'm not sure) called Metformin.
