Homeopathic Supplements

I am seeing an Osteopath on Friday for weight loss, digestion, ph level balance, hypothyroid, and headaches.

I am getting alot of flack from co-workers that I am not sticking with traditional FDA approved drugs and treatment even though they are not improving my medical conditions.

Have you had a positive or negative experience using chinese medicine, acupuncture, homeopathic supplements, etc?

I had a wonderfull experience using classical homeopathy. My well being increased 100%, I lost weight and resolved a lot of little health problems and odd aches and pains.

No, I have had excellent experiences. I am by no means a 'natural medicine' person. But I started seeing an acupuncturist and my health has improved vastly. I also recomended a family see her (my acupuncurist) for her intense pain from cancer. She went and the pain improved. Of course, her cancer is aggressive and cannot be cured, but at least she is not in discomfort.

OP here

Thanks for your input. I work at a clinic and they are trained that FDA (money making) pills are the only thing that works and they are trying to talk me out of it.

What country do you live in? I used the services of an Osteopath in the UK, and they were essentially a form of physical therapy - in my case, it was massage + chiropractic adjustment, which I wish existed here in the US. Are you sure you're not seeing a Naturopathic doctor? Because that would be my first choice for the issues you're seeking to resolve.

I am in the US. I do regular chiropractic adjustments with therapeutic massage. The osteopath i am seeing has his chiropractic degree and his osteopath degree. His clinic is based on acupuncture, adjustments, massage, homeopathic supplements, biofeedback therapy, etc.

I'm all for more natural remedies. I personally don't trust most of the pharmaceutical companies to "fix" anything- if they fix something, you don't need to use their product. Therefore, pharmacueticals merely suppress symptoms of a larger problem.

I actually follow a diet recommended by my naturopath, which has been so fantastic I don't need the drugs I was on previously. Kinda rarely even need my naturopath anymore :) (check out the thread about what meds people got off of when they lost wieght)

Ignore your narrow minded, perhaps brainwashed co-workers, and give the osteopath a try. it's your health, not theirs.

OP Again--Great imput!

Thanks! I took my daughter to see this osteopath 5 months ago. She has had a cough and her skin breaks out since she was 9 mo. old (she's now 7). We've seen 15 doctors, 2 surgeries, extensive x-rays, meds, skin allergy tests, asthma meds and test, acid reflux meds, etc. He saw her for ONE visit and knew exactly what was wrong with her--she has extensive food allergies that were detected through a blood draw--they never showed up on the skin test. She's been on 4 supplements for 4 months and hasn't coughed since! we just changed her diet to limit the allergy foods, but not eliminate them. so, i'm very hopeful.

i have purchased the kevin trudeaux books and i think he's right on the money! that's why i want to get away from the fda drugs that just cause more problems!

The FDA is basically in bed with the pharma industry (just google "vioxx and fda" to see a great example of this.

The thing about the homeopathic stuff is that there is not enough money to buy influence. There is no "big massage" like there is "big pharma". It sounds silly but that is the reality. Take your pH for example- drinking 2 squeezed lemons into water every day will radically reset your body, it will make you healthier if you are not in balance. A massage will help you so much. Eating more fruits and vegetables will help tremendously. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

op again--you guys are awesome

i didn't know that about the lemons--thanks! i am a HUGE water drinker, approx, a gallon of water a day. so my acidic levels are doing ok so far, but will know more from him on friday.

I completely agree with the fda. i believe there is a cure for cancer, but how much money would hmo's and the fda lose if they actually used the cure!

by the way, my daugher doesn't break out, her skin color is amazing, she doesn't have bad parasites anymore in her stomach since all the "FDA approved" medication killed all the bad stuff, and her liver and kidney function tests are back to normal. 15 docs and almost $5,000 later and ONE trip to the osteopath not only got to the root of the problem, but fixed it!

I just don't understand why I am being told it's not a good idea to see this doc, that they're all quacks.....

Op- they're called quacks because they don't often have the money to do the "scientific" tests that large pharma corps do to "validate" their findings. And because pharma corps will pay for studies to show that natural remedies are pointless- all about protecting profit, not health. And sadly, many many people buy into the BS.

May I ask which food allergies were diagnosed? I'm a girl who suffered for YEARS before finding out I was intolerant to wheat and corn, and now as previously mentioned, don't even really need my naturopath anymore...

she is allergic to corn, wheat, barley, chicken, pineapple, carrots, onion, garlic, FLOURIDE, 4 ANTI-BIOTICS (shocked to hear this!), MSG, they even specified which fish she can have, i.e. she can have bass, but not white fish or salmon, and LOTS of other foods. with the supplements she can eat these foods, just can't have the same food within four days of each other.

No surprise about the wheat and the corn... My biggest pet peave is the way we're pushed to eat "whole wheat" all the time, when wheat intolerance is so prevalent and undiagnosed...

But on the bright side, there's So many great wheat/corn free options out there. The only thing I *occasionally* miss are white flour pastries/cakes... Everything else I can find or make a substitution for. Congrats on solving your daughter's problem :)
