EMAIL THREAD
I have a question/topic that's never been discussed before...
Oh wait...there's no such thing...bloating, calories, exercises, love handles, unsupportive spouses, mean co-workers, gym rats, diet myths, lunch ideas, dinner ideas, fat kids, fat parents, fat friends, fat spouses, fat neighbors, fasting, sweating, birth control weight gain, running, the elliptical, heart rate monitors, blah, blah, blah. Who are these Search function nazis who scold others and deem them lazy for not looking up old threads? Frankly, I find it more annoying to see threads from 1999 pop up! But, ultimately, who the heck cares??
Mon. Sep 17, 1:13pm
what the hell is the big f*cking deal with reminding others to use a function that has been purposely included in the forums? calling people "nazis" because they suggest doing a little finger work is comical. here's a question i'll bet you never asked before, "why am i beating a dead horse?"
Monday, September 17, 2007, 1:29 PM
wow. another glitch ate my comment. i'll repost it.
why the heck are you so bothered by the suggestion that a person use a purposely included function like the search box??? why do you think that box is there? look something that's basic in its subject matter up first (like bloating, like calorie counting, like weight watchers...). it's common sense. why would you call someone a "nazi" for reminding others of the features available for our use in the forum?

i think the OP is commenting more on how people seem to get irate about not using it and people using it as a springboard to just get pissy with posters.
it must be a slow day for controversy on PT if this is what is being argued about.
Monday, September 17, 2007, 2:30 PM
it sounds like the op is the one getting irate...
Monday, September 17, 2007, 2:39 PM
wow are there some angry people here!
Monday, September 17, 2007, 4:31 PM
maybe people are bloated?
Monday, September 17, 2007, 4:33 PM
I have noticed that people are sometimes apologetic when they start a post, because they fear it has been discussed before or something!
I cant say for sure, but I will guess that those people who critisize on topics, or try to 'help' by being extremely harsh and rude, are unhappy and very controlling.
I have known people like this, and they suck the energy out of everything around them. Really not nice or fun people.
Lets not suck the energy out of people's threads. Lets encourage each other, dicuss, debate in a civilized manner and ultimately promote health. Stressful, controlling behaviour is very unhealthy!

I have a thought.
Would it be so wrong to do both? I mean I am sure that if there was a thread back 7 or 8 years ago chances are there are a lot of new people here and thus new ideas. So why would it be so bad to see what the people now have to say?
Myself I don't know that I ever noticed there was a way to search past postings.
I have tried to find groups that way and it doesn't work... Didn't know you could on these threads.
Hey guys, have a nice day

4:51-
This is was well put, and totally agree.
Monday, September 17, 2007, 5:12 PM
ooooh! i absolutely hate that stupid, useless search window, too! why look in the past for answers to a question that i have today? only new opinions matter. there's nothing to be gained from reading what others have written, even if it was just last week! when will people learn?

Bump - another thread about old threads...I'll stop with this one, you can search for the rest on your own.
Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 5:25 PM
Possibly the people posting duplicate questions already used the search function and didn't find what they were looking for or simply preferred more answers to their question.
I also don't understand why others are SO bothered by this. If it bothers someone so much then just move on and don't waste your time with that particular post. Why upset yourself? More importantly, why does it upset you so much in the first place?
Isn’t YOUR post contradicting by asking why someone doesn't use the search function for a question previously asked? I mean your question has been asked numerous times as well. So basically, you’re asking a question that has already been previously asked. Why don't YOU use the search button to find the answer to your question because it has been asked many times as well?
Why ask why? You’re only upsetting yourself with such a ridiculous matter. Life is too short to be bothered by such petty matters.
Just always remember, don’t sweat the petty stuff and don’t pet the sweaty stuff.
LOL
