depressed, unhappy most of the time
it's not the end of the world, but I am just down a lot of the time. Anyone else have this problem or any advice.

yes, i have it and have had it for a long time. I think it's depression, or anxiety. I would go on medication, and atually have some, except it causes weight gain....so I don't. I've gone on antidepressants before for about a month, and supposedly that wasn't even long enough to feel results, because I didn't. Also, I had side effects after stopping them. I would talk to a doctor if I were you.

OP, might be a good idea to talk with a therapist to see if you can turn it around and feel better.
Recognizing the problem is the first step so you are in a good place to make some changes. The unhappiness isn't you....it's the depression.

have your thyroid checked--an underactive thyroid is the cause of my sadness, snapping at people, and irritable.

Does exercise help? I think I have it mildly but exercise helps.

When I feel down I count my blessings. And I mean every one, starting with the fact that I woke up that day, had money to buy food for that day, etc. The smallest things we take for granted (like our health, eyesight, abilities) should be focused on coz truly not all people have what you have. Refuse to focus on the negative and what lacks in your life. LIfe is what you make it.

exercise can help as well as making sure you are eating a healthy diet. but if these things are not helping, well, then you should talk to someone. your pcp's office would probably be able to recommend a good counselor or therapist. some people don't need medication, just someone they can talk to about what's on their mind. I used to think that my friends were all I needed to be a sounding board for me, but what really helped was having an unbiased person listen to me and allow me to talk through my feelings. Good luck!

I feel the same way, too. Doc thinks I have an anxiety disorder, and has referred me to see a therapist. To talk about it. I don't know, we'll see. Be strong.

Yeah you should def see a therapist. I've had anxiety (which brought along depression) for a decade now, ever since I was in middle school. I didn't seek help until almost 2 years ago. I feel a lot better than I did before, but it's still tough. Good luck.
