Head over heels in love.....

Has being "in love" had an effect on your approach to health? I have found it so much easier to stay the long course to getting healthy when I am loving someone....you know the wake up in the morning and remembering that I love this person. ....thinking about them throughout the day......It gives me tremendous energy and fortitiude. I never hear about this when weight loss and getting healthy are being discussed. I am interested, do others have the same experience?

For me, it goes 'happy and fat, sad and slim'.
When I am having fun with someone I'm in love with, that usually involves eating a lot; trying out new restaurants together, cooking, just enjoying food among other sensual experiences.
If I am lonely, I focus on myself more (exercise, heathy meals). I'm more critical about my body type. I may even lose my appetite if I'm really depressed and heartbroken.
Right now, I'm single and doing fine. I'm not losing or gaining.

I have found that I am the same as the OP. When I feel happy and in love , I focus on myself and my hapiness more, and eat and take care of myself better. When I am not in love, I feel that taking care of myself is pointless, and depression makes me overeat and not care.

Being "in love" takes lots of my time....I can't get the person out of my thoughts and it runs over into my eating time ;-)....so I tend to lose weight. Also when things aren't going well I can go in one of two directions....I can eat because I am unhappy or get lots of exercise because it blows off steam and makes me feel better.

There are times I wonder how much energy I spend this way. It's not a choice for me either....I am just there and in love mode. Makes me understand the whole cupid's arrow thing...seems like magic and all roads lead to my love.

I remeber I was quiet young on my wedding day 25 years ago and I din't even diet! When I am in a good place I don't think about food!

I have had the experience of my world seeming to turn sideways and colors changing by loving someone. It makes all things seem possible.

I keep running into these sweet animal stories about how sick animals recovered because they built a loving relationship with another animal. We must be wired for that.

Is love central to our story about how we inhabit our lives? This story about Owen and Mzee is so sweet!
