Motivation?
Feeling good in my own skin. I am tired of wasting forever in front of my mirror trying to find something to wear...so much harder to pull of an outfit when overweight (for me, other people pull it off somehow). Confidence.
When I overeat the food just consumes me. I love how I feel when I eat just the right sized portion of heatlhy, energy creating foods. Being healthy just saves so much time. My husband's health also motivates me. He eats like crap if I eat like crap. If I eat well he tends to make better choices as well. I want us both to be able to have children & be healthy enough to have a great time raising them & (if they choose) play with our grandkids in twenty-some years.

I'm motivated to lose weight for 2 reasons: 1. health (dad died of a heart attack and he was only 48) and 2. activities. I want to compete in triathlons, not just complete, I want to bellydance again, go backpacking, run, do all the fun things I used to do.

I can't help myself and I'm sure I'm not the only one that does this, but I fantasize about losing the weight and rubbing it in the faces of a few people that have made hurtful comments about my weight.
I imagine myself walking in to the room with a sexy outfit, looking better than they could ever wish for, getting all the attention and make them feel as insecure as they made me feel. I wouldn't have to say one unkind word to get back at them, my new body would say it all!

My motivation is to be able to have a life.
Right now I just exist and I want to enjoy the days I have left on this earth however many they be.
I want to look in the mirror and not hate what I see looking back at me.
I know I am not what I look like but it seems few other people do.
I want to look at myself and be proud of what I have overcome.
In short, I want to like me. Losing the weight won't fix that but it is a step toward that goal.

I'm going on hols in november and want to look good and am a bridesmaid next year where the other bridesmaid is a (UK) size 8. I'm a 14 and would like to be a 10. Also seeing beautiful women on tv and in magazines makes me go to classes and the gym and eat healthy.

The people in my group often talk about health as being their focus as they try to lose weight. Vanity is a dirty word. But the truth is, my own quiet motivation is just like so many of the other people who have made entries here...beauty.
When I first lost weight I always seemed to be on a "compliment high". The way that people (especially men) reacted to me started to change completely. I've never been one to put on high heels and low cut tops to do my groceries but I definitely took longer to primp and preen.
When I was in highschool and almost everyone was slim, I was in the middle of the pack beauty-wise (if that). Now that the whole world has gotten overweight, and I am the most fit I have ever been, I find myself with elevated status. Not something I ever expected, but a huge motivator.
