Question For Endurance Runners- Energy Gels?

In your experience what do you think of energy gels/shot bloks? Do you use them every 45 minutes of your run? What's your favorite flavors?

I'm a fan of GU - usually the berry and fruit flavors (could never really get into the chocolate ones, but that's just me.) I used them for my long runs (10 miles or longer) and I had one every 6 miles, which for me was close to every hour. I liked them b/c they were easier (for me) than toting around food or placing food along my route. HTH!

I love the energy jelly beans, I use them when I am training for my marathons. They don't get melty and they fit in your pocket well.

I like them and only consume them in long races like the marathon and some trail runs, bike tours have them too, I have thought about getting some for my longer runs but for the moment I just run with a bottle of gatorade, I figure my hydration is more important, but the gels really do give you that umph you need when you don't think you can go anymore sometimes it really surprises me.

Gels are good as long as you drink plenty of water with them I find. I use them on long bike rides and when doing triathlons.
