DR OFFICE

Does any one out there work at a doctors office?
i'ts really hard to diet because reps constanly bring goodies besides what we already have in the office.

i think your first step should be to acknowledge that you have a problem dieting. period. the fact that others bring in "goodies" (more like baddies) is secondary to the real issue. if you keep placing the blame on others, you will have a very hard time tackilng the problem.

i work at a clinic and reps bring in goodies all the time. i just choose to not eat them. it's my choice to go without. They are trying to do a nice thing and that's great!

I agree with 4:12, we have reps that visit us constantly (not a Dr office though) and I just choose not to eat what they bring. No matter where you work there will be co-workers bringing in snacks, asking you to go out to lunch, etc.
Resisting temptaition is the only solution and it just takes practice. Try to focus on only eating when you are hungry and have healthy snacks available so you aren't tempted to snack on something bad!
Good luck!

I also agree with 4:12

I don't work in a Dr's office - instead I work at a high tech company that prides itself on treating it's employees well. That means we have a COMPANY-FUNDED candy table (not just a dish mind you), and it's full - all. the. time. And it's 1 cube away from me and I have no choice but to walk past it. Every time we have a vendor or other company on site it's catered lunches and breakfast pastries. So, I don't know exactly what your reps provide but I'll put my company up against 'em any day for sheer excessive calories.

Is that ever going to change? No - it's not - at least not in the foreseeable future. Therefore *I* must change. In 3 months I have not helped myself to a single goodie and that can be hard. I just tell myself "it tastes better to be thin" and I don't miss eating any of it, in fact I always feel better about myself for resisting temptation so it gets easier and easier all the time. I can honestly say I'm only rarely tempted these days. I don't have any special tricks, mainly I just have to walk on by and tell myself 'nope - you'll feel better when you're thin'.

Best wishes to you.

Keep some sugar free Jolly Ranchers or something at your desk when you feel the urge to snack! It's better than eating a cupcake or something! Just don't eat 100 in a day... =)
