TLC Sextuplets show
Has anyone watched this program? The episode I watched last night blew me away. The mother of 8 children cooks every meal for her children and was having surgery so made 14 days worth of meals so they continued to eat healthy!!! She adds veggies to anything she can and her kids have never had fast food.
Makes me realize I DO have time to eat healthy and prepare all my food, nobody can use that excuse anymore!!!!

I bet she doesn't work outside the home 9 hours a day...

I'd have to say that caring for eight children would far exceed the workload of a mother working 9 hours a day outside the home.

I've seen that show! I can't get over how much work taking care of her family is!!
She works double shifts as a nurse on the weekends. But even if you are working full time outside the home you still can buy fruits and vegetables and don't need to rely on fast food to feed your family. It takes a different type of planning than we're all used to but it definitely can be done if you make it a priority!

I've seen it too. I work outside the home 9 hours a day, exercise and don't have any childres so I should still have time to prepare healthy foods. She is an amazing woman. I agree, caring for 8 children 24 hours a day far exceeds my 9 hour work day!

8 kids! wow. My parents have some friends that have 8 kids. They are all the most well behaved kids too. Its amazing. So sweet and help take care of each other. Being a stay at home mom would defiently be hard work. Its a constant nonstop day that doesn't end at 5. I know an office job is hard work too, but I think its a totally different kind of difficulty. I told my husband that after we had kids I would like to stay at home for a while. I hope he says ok :)

Having 8 kids in one home like that lady is my worst nightmare, lol. Anyone else feel that way? Did you see what she had to drive to fit them all in? How does she get any peace? That would drive me nuts. The grocery bill, the laundry, dishes, the work, the running after them, dirty diapers, cooking for ten everday, OMG! Heaven forbid he leave her, what would she do then??? I give her credit because I would be in the looney bin.

I can never watch the whole show because I feel stressed out while I watch it!!! LOL I just have to turn it off. I admire her but to me it would be a nightmare!

I have six siblings, and I can tell you from experience my mom cooked every meal for us, and we were always well behaved, very happy. My mom was/is very organized. But strangely I have no close memories of my mom, very little one on one time, all my childhood memories are of my brothers and sisters. I admire her but never feel close to her. I hate that she blends all our history together and never remembers anything correctly from my childhood. She will tell stories about me that are really about my sisters, etc. Now as a parent I am very close to my 3 kids, but I try to spend as much time one on one with each, even though I work outside the home. The sad thing is that you raise that many kids they are raised in mass.

I totally agree with the last poster. There is no way they can get one on one. The Duggan family is another example. How many kids do they have 15 or so?? The older kids have to help take care of the younger ones at times. Now that is NOT the responsibility of a child if you decide to have more kids. They have "buddies" to help take care of them. What ever happened to a "Mom and a dad" to take care of them??? Mom and Dad chose to keep having kids. Isn't she pregnant again? Does anybody know?

The Duggar family is expecting number seventeen. The baby was due July 28, 2007, but I don't know if it's arrived yet or not (the Discovery channel website didn't have any info beyond the due date).

These people who have so many kids - there is something really wrong with them. Don't they know about overpopulation? How selfish can they be. Bringing new children into this world when there aer so many without parents that need homes.

17! Can you imagine what her insides are like, the babies must just pop out, like slippery soap!
Friday, August 3, 2007, 10:54 AM
it's a girl!! the article said that within 10 minutes of giving birth for the 17th time, she was already talking about having another.
Friday, August 3, 2007, 11:16 AM
Well the woman who gave birth to 17 children will probably regret her decision when she gets sickly and dies before her time. God, can you imagine how hard all these preganancy can be on one's body? Totally insane.

Just a thought...
10:51 - I'm not saying everyone should have 17 kids, that seems extreme, but in developed countries in general, we're not having enough kids to keep our population stable. This means that we won't have enough young people working to take care of the old people. I think the numbers are different in the States, but in Canada where I am, people are only having 1.5 kids on average per family, which isn't enough to replace the parents! There's something to be said for giving more attention to children by having smaller families, but there's also an argument for having enough children to keep our economy moving.

I think it's hysterical how so many of you think you know what's best for people you don't even know. I'm glad America is free and we can do what WE want, not what other people think we ought to do.

2:16 - huh?

No Fast Food?
Yes... she was bragging about how healthy they eat and that she buys organic food and her kids haven't eaten fast food in their lives...
But at one point they showed the older girls (one waking up the other twin) and on the nightstand they showed a Mc Donalds cup.... I saw it, my daughters saw it and my husband too... we all looked at each other and said..."no fast food....yeah righttttt"

Maybe they got a deal on a bunch of McDonald's cups - they're saving dirty dishes
