Did you pick that one up from a pro-anerexic website? I remember seeing something like that. It gives me the creeps. Like "I want to dance between the raindops".

I wouldn't say this is "inspirational" but it does remind me why I don't want to overeat. "A binge is a banquet in a graveyard."

This isn't so much related to dieting as life in general but I like the self-forgiveness aspect of it.

i used to kind of read all of these quotes and feel inspired when i read them, but then they wouldnt mean anything to me when i was really in a rut or on the edge of a terrible binge or just giving up. the only one that has ever inspired me and i think about almost daily is this quote, and apply it to not only my health goals but also my goals in life -

"Failure is choosing what you want now over what you want most."

Nothing taste as good as thin feels is a slogan they use in the "prism weight loss program" it may be in others but its one they use in their literature. for me its a true slogan since I've been thin and I've been heavy and its true thin feels pretty good... if you've never been there get there and you'll see... good luck!

My inspiring word is "Consistency".

When I don't see change on the scale, I just keep thinking "Be Consistent". Consistently exercise. Consistently eat right. Change will come. Consistently NOT exercising and NOT eating right certainly has its results, so even if I mess up every once in a while, good "consistent" habits will have their ultimate results too.

This popped into my head about a week ago, and it changed my life.

Binging isn't naughty, it's just stupid.

Somehow, even knowing that eating too much was destructive, I had been treasuring it as a naughty, decadent thing to do when I was alone. I have lived in a mindset for YEARS that I think stems from not being allowed to have sugar as a child at home, and then getting candy and cookies at school as a treat. Sweets are for when you're good, and it's fun to hide candy under the bed to eat during slumber parties with your friends - or as quiet rebellion when you're sent to your room. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I realized this about myself!
I also think about a harsher version of the same thought when I need to -
THAT [fries, chocolate, plate of pasta the size of my face] is what FAT PEOPLE eat - and while I might look heavy on the outside, I refuse to be a fat person any longer!

Plan for success, always.

What do you want most? Go after it.

If there is an obstacle, then there also is a way around it. Look for it.

Establish good habits. Make them a lifestyle by reinforcing them.
Good habits are almost as hard to break as bad habits.

Most successes do not come by heroic effort, but by consistent commitment.
Take the little steps.

I'm a visualizer, so what's inspirational for me is to imagine the weight "shaking" off of me every time I take a step (like a dog shaking of water...the harder you shake it, the more will come off). This makes me stand up straight and tall, and shake my bootie to no end as I do my daily walk. When my posture is stretched and I'm shaking about, my shorts seem to be more loose...making me feel thinner. Sounds goofy, but it really works!

The journey to a thousand miles begins with one step.

Knowing is not enough, we must apply.
Willing is not enough, we must do.

Life is not about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself.

You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 today and we don't know where the hell she is.

My inner pattern of perfection is now made manifest by the power of my Holy Spirit... and so it is... thanks be to God.

From the GodSelf of me I choose to be my Divine Right Size.

I now express my Perfect Figure.

I robe my Self in garments of Glory.

My favorite on the list? Sinners can repent, stupid is forever... ha ha!
I think I'll adopt this one: I would rather feel the pain of dedication, than the pain of regret.
thanks everyone!

Sometimes it isn't enough to say "I'm doing this for me."

Sometimes my self-worth is not high enough for that to matter. I know that is a problem in itself, but here is something that gets me through.

I do this hard thing (getting in shape, dropping body fat, working on an exam, improving at my job, etc) for my grandfather (who has passed away), who worked hard for everything and was an amazing man, and sometimes had to do things many times, but he stuck to it. I do this for my grandchildren (far in the future) who can look up to me and what I achieved. They can say, she didn't have much, but she had perseverance. If she could do it, so can I.

In other words, I do it not just for my self, but for my family, long gone and yet to come. I do it for my legacy.

Because I'm worth it.

(And then, after all that thinking, I feel like I'm worth it, and then I can do it for myself, too.)

When I'm working hard and the scale isn't changing and I'm feeling discouraged I say to myself "If I'm working this hard and truly nothing is happening then all I will do by quiting is gain weight back. I'd rather sit here forever doing the right things 10lbs from my goal than gain all that hard work back."

It generally keeps me motivated enough to see through the plateau.

Not sure if this was already said, but when I am starting to feel like I need sweets or something I shouldn't eat, I think "food is fuel" and then think how bad I want that few seconds of good taste when it is doing nothing for my body other than a step back from my goals and a sugar crash later.

#1 Fan

I was just talking to one of my friends this morning about learning to love yourself right now. I know we all want to lose our physical weight, but through this process we also have to lose our emotional weight..the bagage that keeps us from loving the person inside. So, I told her to share this mantra with me....my name is Tiki and I'm about to get a tank top with this on it... I'm Tiki's #1 Fan! This slogan reminds me to keep cheering myself on throughout this journey! :)

Very old quote by Epictetus

"Remember that in life you should conduct yourself as at a banquet. Has any dish that is being served reached you? Stretch forth your hand and help yourself modestly. Doth it pass you by? Seek not to detain it. Has it not yet come? Send not forth your desire to meet it, but wait until it reaches you. Deal thus with children, thus with wife; thus with office, thus with wealth—and one day you will be fit to share the Banquets of the Gods. But if you do not so much as touch that which is placed before you, but despise* it, then shall you not only share the Banquets of the Gods, but their Empire also."

* I am pretty sure that "despise" is not a particularly good way to describe what Epictetus is trying to convey. Not sure if it was just a poor choice of wording on his part or a poor choice made during translation. From what I've read of Epictetus, his main idea is about not concerning ourselves too much with things we have no control over, like the food at a banquet, and instead highly valuing only what we can control: our own choices and behavior.
