self destruction?

I do that sometimes as well, I feel like.... what the hell I did, all that work and I gained weight!

THIS IS THE EXACT WRONG THING TO DO!

Now I wait 12 hours and weigh myself again and often times I have lost weight.

I find, when my scale goes up, either I actually didnt' eat well, or I ate a bunch of salt. I tend to want to sabotage myself, until I see the scale go down, even just a pound, and then suddenly I'm right back on track!

Just try and remember the reasons why the scale goes up, and try and drink tons of water when it does...

I do this, all the time. It's frustrating but I agree with the above poster, you have to remember why you're doing this in the first place. Why have you committed to your health? Keep reaching for the water. Or try on an old pair of jeans. You'll stay on track.

Or maybe get rid of the scale. I decided to go by how I feel, what my endurance level is, how my clothes fit, etc. Even when I feel like I'm not making rapid progress, I can still remember that drinking water, eating healthfully, and exercising more (or switching up my routine) will get me what I want...

If you really want to keep the scale, maybe come up with some "rules" and post them near the scale (like was mentioned earlier, weighing again in 12 hours, etc instead of getting discouraged) or put up inspirational quotes or a quick list of things to do when you feel frustrated about not progressing like you'd hoped... like a ways-to-deal-with-it list, including walking off the frustration, dancing, or taking a bath. Come up with other ways to react...

You CAN succeed!
