Too much for one day?
I feel really fat lately and I was wondering if this is too much, honestly please,
3 pieces of chicken
12 in subway sandwhich
4 hersheys kisses
Mon. Dec 12, 12:47am
Is this a joke? Is this a whole day's worth of food? Where are the veggies and fruit? Its not too much food but it definitely is not well balanced. Maybe if you tried to eat more fruit and veggies with your meals you would feel differently about yourself.

To the OP
I am sorry the person before chose to respond so harshly. It's clear you're at a turning point with regard to your health, and that's why you reached out. If you consumed that much in one meal, it would be too much at once. If this is a normal meal for you, try cutting down the portions (6in. sub, 1 pc. of chicken, etc.) and then eventually work your way to changing the meal itself to include more fruit and veggies. Make one big change weekly and one small change daily (add a salad to the day, give yourself an eating cut-off for the week), and you'll feel and look differently. I wish you the best, and keep reaching out.
Keep us posted!

The post is for one day, not one meal, I assume, since that's the topic!
I won't be harsh, but I will second the original responder, to an extent. It's not too much for one day, but it also isn't healthy, and the types of foods affect how your body processes them as well.
A couple questions - what kind of chicken? With or without skin? With or without frying or breading? The subway sandwich, what was on it? Meats, cheeses, dressings? And what kind of bread, white, wheat, asiago cheese?
Perhaps all you're missing is some fruit/veggies. However, you might be getting too much protein and not enough fat, if the sub and chicken are low fat (no fried, heavy dressing, skin, etc.) It's also possible, if it's one of the more unhealthy subs and chicken with the skin that it actually may be too many calories.
One or two small pieces of chicken, no skin, no fried/breading, on a bed of spinach and other veggies, with 1T olive oil and some vinaiger would be a good meal. A 12" turkey sub w/ cheese, tons of veggies, and honey mustard or vinager instead of other sauces, on wheat, would be a good meal too. A small breakfast of some oatmeal or healthy cereal w/ some fruit and a little skim milk would be a good addition.
4 hershey's kisses sound like a good treat when you need a treat! When you don't, skip 'em, b/c they're a few calories that aren't helping you with anything other than your craving.

I think you need to get on a real plan.

Mayo Healthy Weight Plan
If you're looking for a good plan, the Mayo Clinic Healthy Weight Plan is a good place to start a search.
You can reach the Mayo Clinic (www.mayoclinic.com) with the link below. Info on the Healthy Weight Plan will show up on the home page. Click to get more information on the healthy weight plan, and you should get to a preview of the book. You should also find a link to "Free Downloadable Healthy Weight Tools", or a similar description.
If it doesn't work quite the way I described, dig around on the Mayo Clinic website until you can download the Mayo Clinic Food Pyramid and a Daily Food Journal.
Both of these can be printed and used as the basis for at least a start on a healthy weight plan. If you like what you see and decide you want more info, you can buy the book from the Mayo Clinic website, Amazon.com or another bookstore of your choice.
A few years back I lost 35 pounds at a steady 1-lb per week using the Mayo Healthy Weight Plan, and have kept it off for the past 4 years. My current eating plan is based on the Mayo Plan and it works quite well for me. My log is public, and you can find it on the list of public logs under "dwillard".
Good luck with your program.

Thank you all so much! Today I decided to have a 6 in sub for lunch and one for dinner with tons of veggies and whole wheat bread. I am not a big fan of fruits and veggies so subway is the best way I can get them. Once again thank you all so much, I really appreciate it.

Consider adding a multivitamin to that if you aren't already taking one. It's still not enough veggies or fruits to get the essential nutrients you need. Sure you can live without, but your body will thank you for it.
Took me awhile to start liking fruits and veggies too. I had to do a lot of experimenting to find healthy ways to prepare them that I like. Now I have tons of recipes, but you gotta start small with the few things you know you like, and then expand your repetoire.

You would have to have an INSANE amount of vegetables on your subs to get enough servings for a day if you're not getting veggies elsewhere. You should try to add veggies (not fried ones though) in other ways to make up for the deficit. I don't know if you eat pasta or stirfry but making those with lots of vegetables is a good way to up your count.
