weight gain

Hi all,

I was wondering what people have to say about working out and gaining muscle weight. I've gained a few lbs in the last few days, although I log my food daily and started working out a month ago. I'm on weight watcher's and hae overall lost alot of weight. I have been working out 2-3 times a week for a half an hour, and have just added weights to my regimen, I also walk 2 miles on weekends and bike ride, on top of my work outs. Any suggestions? I'm kind of discouraged.

I noticed how good I felt after upping the exercising, more energy, and looser fitting clothes despite the added couple of pounds. Do you notice that too? If so, then consider the added heavier muscle and/ or water weight from adding muscle as a positive sign! Don't get discouraged, you sound like you're doing great!

You're not alone

This happens to me all the time! I have been PT'ing for 6 weeks and have only lost 3lb BUT I've dropped a whole dress size! I do a lot of CV and weights and have been feeling like a scientific odd bod as my calorie intake is less than my expenditure. BUT, this could be my body building muscle AND storing fat (if it is coming to the body as a shock) SO, I'm just perservering. Remember your goal or motivation for losing the weight and hang on in there! Also (although I haven't done it myself yet!) get a tape measure and start measuring your loss in inches rather than you loss in weight!
Hope this helps! xhx

I just weighed in today and showed a 2lb gain - there's no way that's actually happened (in terms of fat). Could be muscle, but most likely it's just a fluctuation in your water weight. I take my measurements, so that keeps me motivated when the scale does not. I also have my 'test' pair of jeans - the pair that I'm going to look fabulous in one day - they are a constant reminder of my progress. Keep it going!

this is bizarro. I gained 9 lbs in 2 days and yesterday lost 8 lbs in 1 day. I must hae been retaining water. That's never happened to me that drastically. I did work out way more than I'm used to last week, so maybe I was dehydrated?
