Just make a plan to see the sights, and walk from hotel to hotel. It is actually really far! You can spend days in Vegas, not even spending any money, just trying to see all of the hotels! They are so cool! And you'll walk miles and miles w/o even noticing!

So, instead of spending the daytime laying at the pool and sipping drinks (or, at least some of the daytime), make a point of seeing everything you can see! You'll burn enough cals that the drinking won't matter as much.

And don't plan to lose while you're gone, just plan to maintain. You can lose when you get back. It's stressful to try and lose while on vacation, eating every meal out. You don't want to be disappointed when you get home and step on the scale.

i hope this doesn't come off as offensive, but what does the venue have to do with staying on track? if you've reached a point where you are taking control of your eating habits and trying to exercise regularly, why would you let that effort go to waste (or waist!) just because you are in different surroundings? can you get a menu from the hotel restaurant where you're going to stay? or how about checking out the menus of places that you know you'll be interested in going to? you can a least get an ides of the offerings that way. and try drinking spritzers or light beer and have water in between drinks...you probably know all that. i'll bet the hotel has a weight room/gym, too. check it out online or call for info. good luck and have fun!!

Are you going to have a few drinks or are you going to party like a rock star?

Avoid the fruity/sugary drinks... if it comes with an umbrella, don't order it. Try to visit the hotel's fitness center for 20-30 minutes each day and eat a small but sensible breakfast and lunch.

Have fun!

I recently got back from Vegas, partied like a rock star and didn't gain a pound! I watched portions, walked a TON and I drink alcohol mixed only with diet soda. No fruity drinks, no heavy beer, etc.
Have a fun trip!

Good tip 3:19! Some of those mixed drinks have a ton of calories!

Venue does make a difference! Yeah, we're all striving to get to a place where we can eat well no matter the circumstance, but partying in Vegas is a lot different than going to the Grand Canyon. In one environment you're surrounded by food and drinks and lots of it and the intention is to partake, in the other you're surrounded by a giant hole. It's going to be a lot easier to not eat and drink among friends when the supply is limited!

Keeping away from the umbrella drinks - great idea!

i did not realize the intent of going to vegas was to eat and drink. when i've visited, my focus has been the gambling, the shopping, the shows and just the atmosphere.

I'd be more interested in the other things, too, but even being surrounded by so much food and drink can be a bit much. After a few drinks my resolve weakens and the next thing you know I'm getting that ice cream cone I don't need! That's why I will NEVER go on a cruise! Oy.

Oh, wait... Are you really going to Las Vegas? It is so dope. You can visit all the famous casinos on your own and see it yourself and play if you want. But as for me, I like to play online more. Check this website, it is good for the beginning. GL and have fun!
