You need 50ml per kg of your body weight.

I've recently seen articles claiming that the need to drink at least 64 ozs of water a day is actually a myth. We get enough water from the food we eat and other drinks. I've found that if I drink alot of water my stomach feels stretched out and unpleasant. If I don't drink as much, I eat less, too.

Just my .02 worth.

I read that you are to drink 1/2 of your body weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 135 pounds, you should be drinking a little over 70 oz of water a day (almost 9 8 oz glasses). I think it makes sense. However, I'd like to add that while water is important, it's equally important to eat "water-rich" foods, foods that have a high water content. Vegetables and fruits have a high water content. Actually, a link would be great for water rich foods. Anyone have one?

I've read both that americans drink so little water that our thirst mechanism is broken (so we often think we're hungry when we're actually thirsty) and that the 64 oz a day was supposed to be 64 oz a day TOTAL, from both straight up water and from water in food.

Since I have no clue about how much water is in the food I eat, I personally base my hydration on the color of my pee. If it is very pale, I know I'm fine. If it is deep yellow, I know I need to drink lots more water.
