brown rice

It's so good and so filling, but it takes forever to make! (45 minutes, at least.) Any suggestions for speeding that up? Can you freeze it? Microwave it? The instant stuff isn't good, I don't think.

Thanks!

make up a lot at one time, freeze into portions in zip lock freezer bags (not the ones with the little plastic tab, just the kind that zip together), while leaving a little water in with the rice. then when you want some, reheat in the baggie either in the microwave or by dropping in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes.

Trader Joes

If you have Trader Joes in your area they have frozen brown rice in nice little packets you can slit and microwave. Look in the freezer case.

My husband really wanted to buy a Rice Cooker, but I was opposed to a kitchen appliance that only did one thing. But We finally got one, and we use it almost every day. It makes perfect rice every time and you can set the timer on it so it is done when you get off work. You can get it a any discount store or online for $20. We have an 8 cup made by armour.

In a pinch, I use the Uncle Ben's microwave brown rice..esp if you are puttin gsomething over it like tofu and vegies. It's great to have on hand when you're in a rush. Also, I got a rice cooker years ago and swear by it. The rice is always perfect, you can't overcook and I put it on, go for a run and when I come jhome dinner is half way done!
