Happy Birthday, Winston!

In honor of his birthday (a day he shares with Mark Twain, Mandy Patinkin, and me), here is a quote from Winston Churchill:

Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never--in nothing, great or small, large or petty--never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

Sometimes I think of cravings for inappropriate foods or amounts as the "enemy." My problem is that I can get into a state of mind in which I can persuade myself that giving in is "good sense," but when I look back on it later I was clearly deluding myself.

Anyone have any thoughts on this quote?

I think this is a fantastic quote, applicable to all struggles. One can never hear this often enough, "Never Give In"
