Looking for a good book on Weight Watchers

Can anyone recommend a book that will teach the the basics of WW and the point system? I don't want to spend the money on the meetings or the web program.

Thank you!

Weight Watchers is not only a plan, but also consists of meetings which help you in so many ways. Many times a year the registration is free or reduced. You will get all the info you'll need to change your life in about 4 to 5 visits and it's well worth the education. It will teach you how to eat and it's worth the price of admission.

I reached my maintenance goal and kept it off for 11 years without having to go to meetings for those 11 years.

Too bad, I just threw all of my WW stuff in the recycle last week! I just don't like the point system at all. I think it's weighted to make you not choose foods that I think are essential and I saw too many people end up eating a lots of foods that I thought were not rich enough in nutrients. For example, if you eat nuts, WW gives those a huge amount of points, but promotes their "2 points" bars and some other snacks which I think have way too many empty calories and not enough nutrients that provide lasting value. I know I may get arguments from you WW fans, and really, if you're happy, that's great for you. I just am not happy with what they are emphasizing in terms of nutrition.

to the above poster, I totally and completely agree with you. They teach you how to lose weight, but they don't teach you how to eat optimally for energy. I like WW as a beginning tool for portion size but I rely on many other things to really understand what foods my body needs to maintain a long lasting healthy lifestyle. Great example regarding nuts vs. 2 pts ww bars.

The WW point system books are for WW members, and only they can buy the books that teach the point system - one of WW's ploys to make money! If you know anyone who is a current member, they can buy the book for you; otherwise, if you really want it, you have to suck it up and join for whatever the minimum period is, order the book, and then quit...
