Is it possible to still eat normal?
I am doing the Special K diet and have been trying to keep my calories down around 1000 per day. Today I am dying. I dont know why but I am starving. I have had my cereal and fruit for breakfast and lunch and have had a snack of the Quaker Mini Delights and then broke down and had a Healthy Choice tv dinner. I am at 800 calories for the day and its only 6:10pm. My question is can you eat normal meals and workout and still lose weight? I have 125 to lose. Do you have to feel hungry to lose weight?
Fri. Jun 8, 7:11pm
Of course you can eat normal meals, workout and lose weight! And no you don't have to be hungry. Have you spoken with a doctor or nutritionist? 125lbs is a lot to try to lose on your own, and cutting back to 1000 calories a day is not the best or most effective way to go about it.
Essentially, you feel like you're starving because you are starving yourself. Talk to a doctor, or at least educate yourself about nutrition a bit. There are really great books on the market, and tons of information online.
I wish you tons of luck, and good for you for at least trying to lose the weight. It's a huge step to take, but so worth it!

I'm appalled at what you are doing to yourself
Honey, get some food in you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only way to lose weight permanently is exercise and to eat correct portions of nourishing food. You have had enough carbohydrates, get some olive oil, protein, and veggies in you right away.
And before you do anything else with that crazy diet of yours, get some nutrition knowledge. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before you kill yourself or permanently damage your internal organs.
Talk to your doctor or a nutritionist, learn your portion sizes, learn to pick lean proteins and healthy fats. Cram in the vegetables, stirfrying them in olive oil always taste good.
I had 65 pounds to lose, and I have lost 30 of them. I was just gone on over a month of trips and still lost weight even though my goal was only to maintain. I am doing by eating real food, no shakes, bars, dinners, pills. I am almost 44 and going into menopause, and many health and injury issues and a very low metabolism. If I can do it in a healty fashion, so can you.
No one can survive on 1000 calories of carbohydrates daily. Please stop and educate yourself. Please, because you are worth treating well.

Nobody should be eating below 1200 calories. Trust me. You'll lose more weight when you give your body the amount of calories it actually needs to function properly. Your only eating carbs and perhaps minimal amounts of protein. which is not good - a good diet should be 40% carbs, 40% protein and 20% fat. When you eat that small of calories a day you trick your body to thinking that its in starvation mode so with that your body holds on to your body fat. If you weight yourself in the scale you maybe losing "weight" but that weight could just be water or muscle not necessarily body fat. You need your muscle since muscle is very calorie expensive and takes alot to maintain so it boosts your metabolism. Get a good diet and you add excercise to it and you double your chances of losing body fat not weight.

OP here- OK you all scared me enough. I serioulsy thought that was plenty. I am terrible with portion sizes and I do binge on occasion, thus my weight dilemma. Anyway, I ate a normal dinner of 2 slices of turkey breast and 1/4 cup of mac and cheese with some juice and water. I know the wrong way, my sister is a size 6, from weighing 180 freshman year in high school, but she hardly eats anything. I want to do it the right way this time, which is why I started walking 2 miles every AM, I am just worried that it wont be enough to lose weight if I eat regualr meals. This is why I am on here, for help and motivation and knowledge. So thanks to all of you for your concern and help. I will be on here quite often.

You need to make this a lifestyle change or else the weight will creep back. Just eat normal food but don't binge and the weight will come off. Plus, special K has no nutritional value-- it has no fiber and the last time I checked it has high fructose corn syrup (but who knows they could have removed it now).

Define Normal?
The question is can you eat healthy and make a complete lifestyle change.
The answer lies within you. I believe the answer is yes, and that answer is within all of us.
