I go with a food plan. That helps. I also carry emergency food.

And if you slip, don't beat yourself up too badly. Food happens, somedays it's like a drive by, you are walking along minding your business and BAM(!!), here comes a negative comment and down goes the two slices of cake.

You can always begin again, it's not the end of the world.

stress eating

o.k. - this isn't a very sexy answer but it is a real one...you must create some replacement behaviors for the ones you are trying to eliminate - this does work if you set it up for yourself - do this and know that it does require approximately 21 days to initially break a habit - if you do this for 3 weeks - you will find it easier to make the healthy choices...you can do it!

Remind yourself that taking care of yourself is really important, emotionally and physically. Exercising when you're stressed or upset is a great way to work it out and feel better about yourself. And eating healthy crunchy foods like carrots, celery, and apples might help you deal with some frustration and somewhat satisfy the urge to eat something. You can do it!

First I admire you for being aware what your emotional trigger is and that said trigger moves you to binge eat.

The next steps are twofold:
1) Find a temporary thing to do to get you through this episode. (Eat sugar free jello, go out shopping, jump on a bicycle etc)
2) Allow yourself to feel those emotions and work on other ways to manifest those feelings. Some people get help from therapy. Some people benefit from Over eaters Anonymous.

Congratulations one your first step which is identifying triggers.
