Thanksgiving tips!

Start them here:

Have only 3 bites of the stuff that you just know you'll overdo it on. Three bites of sausage stuffing, three bites of dessert. It's enough taste to satisfy and not feel deprived but it's also a way to taste everything and feel great about it.

Don't take "doggie bags" home with you! If you're the host, be sure to send them home with all of your guests though!!! One meal probably won't set you back terribly on your diet, but a weeks worth of leftovers, easily reachable right in the fridge and pre-cooked, could be disaster!

Thanksgiving Tips

Absolutely wonderful advice...Drink a full glass of water before heading to the table. When it's time to fill your plate only take 1/2 what you would like to take! I am often motivated to eat less when I see others going back for seconds. I know they are going to be miserably full...not me. I agree with the "no doggie bag" suggestion and taking a few bites of everything. Great stuff!

That three bite rule is an awesome suggestion -- somebody told someone who told me ;c) that the enjoyment you get out of a dessert comes from the first 10% of that desert. Think about it, you moan and talk about how delicious the first bites of cake are, then you just kind of eat it.

eat just the filling of the desert most of the calories are in the crust, I read this in the paper about ways to stay on your diet for the holidays

Great tips! I've always agreed with the doggie bag suggestion too. But I'm sooo glad I'm not having dinner at my house this year for the leftover reason. This way I can go eat dinner, come home and get back on track 100%.
