Suggestions for best snacks to reduce hunger?
I find that I get particularly hungry after about 3 in the afternoon until dinner. Does anyone have suggestions for good, filling snacks?

string cheese, yoplait fat-free yogurts, 100 cal. veggie burgers, popcorn, apple w/PB, some kind of kashi cereal, nuts, cottage cheese....
it's good to always try to have some carbs with some protein (at least I find this keeps me the fullest longest!)

I dip an apple in ~4oz low-fat yogurt - pretty tasty and filling. The creamy yogurt and the crisp sweet apple do nice things for each other.... Plus it takes awhile to eat and is satisfying to chew.
Other times I have 1/2 cup of salsa and 6 tortilla chips. or 2 oz cheese and a few crackers and some hot tea. A bannana with peanut butter does the trick sometimes. 1 cup of hot veggie soup is also a pretty good snack and very satisfying.
the apple 'n yogurt is still my fave though....

Variations for the Lactose Intolerant
Same sliced apple, but substitute a Tablespoon peanut butter or almond butter for the yoghurt.
The almond butter is also good used to fill the cavity of a large celery stick.
OR carrot sticks dipped in a Tablespoon of cashew butter.

Something with a little fat, but nothing too full of simple carbs or salt - they'll make you want to keep eating, and won't really fill you up! Don't go for the box of low fat Wheat Thins at this point!!! Or the Baked Lays!! They really aren't your friend!!
Apple and peanut butter is a great one! One serving of nuts, preferably raw, unsalted, also does the trick (but make sure it's only one serving, and it'll take a little while after you finish eating before you stop feeling hungry, so you have to know that that will happen and wait for it!) Cottage cheese or yogurt with fresh or frozen fruit is great too.

Also, make sure that your lunch has a good balance of proteins and fats, and a large quantity of water-heavy foods like fruits, and not too many simple carbs. Then you shouldn't be so hungry so soon afterwards!

Best snacks to reduce hunger
What are you having for lunch? You might want to add more fiber into your diet if you are feeling hungry often. Fiber can be found in whole grains, fruits and vegetables. I find that a little bit of oatmeal can be really filling and very low in calories. Add a little fruit and milk to get a few more food groups in there. Fiber will fill you up, but make sure you have a variety of food groups in your diet. For instance, each meal/snack try to balance your carbohydrates, protein, and fat. If you're more athletic, the ratio might be 60%, 20%, 20%. Otherwise the 40%, 30%, 30% is a good rule.
