Thanksgiving strategies

We just asked this in our group and I thought I would post it out here.

Any good tips?

When you go to fill your plate, go for veggies first and then meat - white meat turkey breast, no skin. Then your plate will be almost full before you get to the starches and fats from potatoes/stuffing/etc. So you'll only have room for a very small serving (or none) of those treats!

If you're cooking, you can make all of the dishes "healthier," and if you're a guest and you're bringing something, bring a healthy version - a fruit salad or angel food cake w/ strawberries for dessert, sweet potatoes with only a few marshmallows or nuts on top and no sugar/cream/etc. in the rest of the casserole, steamed veggies w/ seasonings other than butter, etc. Then you'll know you have something 'safe.'
