Eating for your blood type.
Someone in a group mentioned that they needed to eat meat because they were blood type O. Can someone explain this? This is not the first time I have heard about the blood type diet.

There is a book : Eat Right 4 Your Type by Doctor Peter J. D'Adamo
It goes into eating different foods depending on what blood type you are. Plus which foods to avoid. :)

My husband sees an accupuncturist for IBS. She gave him a 9 page list of beneficial, neutral and detrimental foods. The beneficial list is really small. He's also an O blood type. There is NO meat that is beneficial for him. As a result of him dropping about 25 lbs. with no exersize, just a change in diet, I decided to get my food list as well. I am AB+. Needless to say, my list isn't much better. For example, no meat and NO CHICKEN!! I live on chicken and it's apparently not good for me. Neither is my favorite fish.

Have to agree with 1:29 on this one. Yet another "miracle" diet book.

I am an O
I did that diet for awhile... I lived on (I was living alone at the time and not well off) roast beef ends from the deli- motzerella and sweet potatoes... baked turnips... plain lettuce and fried onions. I ate some of the beneficial and neutral fruits. I lost so much weight... I also had a slice or 2 of that ezekiel bread from time to time... just kept the loaf in the freezer. of course I then met my soon to be dh, and the diet fell out of the window and I could not look at a sweet potato for a long time after..
it really is good and quick to eat... wash, poke it with a fork, stick it in the microwave for 12-13 min... open up and put the motz on... stick it under the broiler or just let it melt as you mash it in... it was almost like a pseudo pizza...

Beef, Bison, venison, rabbit, lamb, and oodles of different kinds of fish are all beneficial to type O. I am an O and I have been eating right for my type for almost 2 years. I lost 40lbs and have kept it off. Not to mention the health benefits were fantastic.
If you want to check lists, you can visit dadamo.com as there is an extensive list of foods classified.
Personally, I wouldn't go back to standard american fare any day- I'm all about the blood type diet...
