How about some tapes on step. I recommend Gin MIller and Keli Robert's. Will get you sweating in not time.

I like Leslie Sansone's walking tapes. She's very sincere, that's good because you watch them again and again.
If you don't want to buy right away, check out your library. If it has workout tapes, you can try them out to see which one you really like. And not get bored, checking out new ones!

Ashtanga Yoga Tapes/DVD's

I have had good success using Ashtanga yoga as an indoor workout. David Swenson's Short Series and Primary Series are available on both tape and DVD. Ashtanga yoga can be quite athletic, and will give you a good workout. I have been working at it 2 years, and am a long way from being able to do all of the positions.

The short series are workouts of 15, 30 and 45 minutes, based on the Primary Series.

The Primary Series is 1-1/2 hours long, and takes a while to build up to.

A good source for yoga tapes/DVD's is Bryan Tecnology. Might be other workout tapes available there, also. You can reach the store website directly, or go thru eBay or Amazon to reach it.

Yourself Fitnees

Although it requires you own a playstation 2; this system is absolutely wonderful. You can customize your work out to a T. Legnth, background, instensity, music, work-out equipment (step, ball, heart rate monitor, etc). It gives you a full physical to judge your current shape and gives recommendations, it is just too cool. I just bought it and already I am hooked, plus, it will break down each move, step by step, you can pause it and up the intesity mid-workout, and the music too....really I can not say enough good things about it!!! :-)

I recommend any of the video by Christi Taylor such as Totally Hot Cardio, etc. She has a very dancy style so you have to be into kind of intense choreography. But seriously, they are so much fun. Sometimes I don't want to work out but I put one of those in and the music starts playing and I see her bouncing around and it gets me motivated. Her videos are mainly centered around cardio workouts - step and hi-low.
check out www.collagevideo.com
There you can read reviews of tons of videos and see a short clip to judge for yourself.

re: What is yoga

check it out! (click link below) I love yoga -- I've been practicing for about 5 years. Some find that yoga fills all their exercise needs. I need to run and lift as well.

More on yoga

I posted the original comment concerning Ashtanga yoga

I second the comment that yoga does not fulfill the exercise requirements for everyone. Yoga is one part of an exercise program for me. I also cycle, lift, walk/jog, and occasionally swim to get a well-rounded program.

In addition to David Swenson's Ashtanga DVD's, I also use an Ashtanga-based DVD called "Yoga Shakti", by Shiva Rea. This is also an excellent exercise DVD (I don't know if it is available on tape).

The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and Shiva Rea is a bit less athletic in her approach than is David Swenson. This DVD has a feature that lets you pick and choose the exercise sequences to customize your own workout. It also offers 4 pre-set workouts, from a very basic of roughly 30 minutes, to very challenging hour-plus workouts. There is also background music, but you have the option of muting the sound and just watching.

For someone who is perhaps more interested in a lot of variety, music, and a faster pace, "Yoga Shakti" would be an excellent choice.
