Tell yourself you only have to go for 15 minutes.

this helped me last night:

I was on the couch watching tv, then I got up and ran in place in front of the tv for 5-10 minutes and suddenly I felt like I could go to the gym so I did!

These work for me....

Get a dog, walking partner or workout partner......

Schedule it and do it no matter what for one week....see how much better you feel?

Start a training log and force yourself to write in it everyday, even if you do nothing. Seeing a weeks worth of entries is a great motivator.

Because if you don't, you'll have to admit it on Peertrainer.

Great Ideas!

Thanks for sharing these really great ideas! I especially like the schedule it and do it for one week thing. That's a small committment...its "doable" and once I do it for one week, it will most likely be easier to do it again the following week and so on.

I appreciate the reminder.

This isnt my post...

but I have the same problem. I think if I can tell myself 15 I will be able to do it. Hey 15 minutes is better than nothing and maybe once I get moving I will do more thank you!

Getting your butt out the door

I keep a gym bag in the car and I rented a locker. I put everything I need in a bag and carry a fresh change of gym clothes to stock the locker. On even a bad day all I have to do is get there. Then I pace my workout into 10 to 20 minute chunks each with a goal. I wrote the goals on a sheet and track each step. I just try to meet my last effort on bad days and push the bar on good days. It is slow but it works... Decide not to walk away until after you at least get to your locker.... Most of the time you will just do it.. AND you feel great afterward.

If you really can't get out the door and you live in an apartment building, walk the stairwell!! I live in a 33-story building, and if I walk up to the top from my floor, then all the way down to the bottom, then all the way back up to my floor - damn, that's a hell of a workout!! And eventually, maybe I'll be able to walk to the bottom, then up all 33 stories in a row, and then back to my apartment - that'd definitely be a good one!!!

Go first thing in the morning. Do not pass go. Wake up in a daze and walk right through that door to the gym. Don't even give your mind a chance to think about it.
