People magazine
Yes, I hadn't heard of it before, saw the magazine in my doctor's office and wrote down the address. It seems to be supportive and I'm excited about being a part of it.

I was actually wondering the same thing. I baught the lastest copy and one of the articles mentioned it and how it helped. It seems to be a great place to look for support.

Yes, and normally I dont read articles, but I did on this one! I am sick of being over weight! :( I loved what it talked about!

People Magazine
YES!!! A coworker had brought the People magazine up to work and my interest was peeked when I saw someone who had been my size, same height and close to my age and lost it. Thought I'd try the site out.

People Magazine
My mother-in-law brought the magazine over to my house. I read the article and I thought it was a great idea for support in weight loss.

PeerTrainer...
Is a lot more than a place for you to get support to take off the weight. It's a place for you to keep it off as well.
Don't stop posting your logs! You will be happy that you kept it up!
Keep up the good work!
Remember one pound a week!
1lb per week X 52 weeks = 52lbs per year!

I read the same article as all of you!!!!

I can't believe all of the comments about People magazine. I was at a drug store feeling sorry for myself and I saw the People's magazine cover and thought if they could do it, why can't I?

People Magazine
I heard about PT from People Magazine. I enjoy participating in the online discussions and food log. It also puts the 'challenge' front and center. It is a way to be conscious about what you are trying to do and have others to share feedback/frustrations/triumphs with you and others.

People Magazine
My husband brought it home from work, I was just telling him I am ready for a life change. He has been running for a few months and is feeling good..I always had a excuse not to go. Well after reading People I signed on here and have started my routine. Which includes our children. I walk/jog for 2.5 miles on a pretty flat track, w/or without my husband depending on is work schedule and the kids ride...it's a win, win situation for all of us! Only on my 1st week, but I have set small goals and I am determined to win!

I was in in line at a drug store grabbing that fat candy bar when I saw this magazine staring at my face. I was inspired to know that there were 6 women who had joined not just the two and I was so inspired that I read their stories & I connected with Kate's the best and joined peertrainer that same night & now have lost 4lbs the first week! It's amazing how one little thing can change your life. Now I only have 96lbs to go!

People mag
I also found out about it from the May issue of people. I told my sister about it and we decided to sign up together. What a great way to keep track of yourself, and by making it public you have to own up to your eating/workout issues. Make yourself accountable, eat healthy and get up and move.

People Mag
I saw one of the ladies from People Magazine on GMA. She must either be a paid endorser or she really believed in PT because she mentioned it several times in the interview. I joined yesterday and am hopefull that PT will help me reach my goal weight.

Wednesday, May 23, 2007, 2:59 PM
Yes, I read it at the gym and immediately signed up. I've only been here a few days but love it already

Welcome everyone!
12:32 poster - trust me, I'm not getting paid for this. ;-) I have been on Peertrainer for two years now. It's what helped me get the hardest part off - the last 30 pounds - and keep it off since. I do blog for the site. I'll link it below so you can come check it out. Glad to have you all here and good luck to you!

Wednesday, May 23, 2007, 4:16 PM
on a whim I subscribed to People for a year, and saw the article with PT on it, and I'm so happy! Any diet program is too expensive, and I can't get the support I need from home, I'm so thankful for this site....
Wednesday, May 23, 2007, 4:33 PM
I read about PT in People too, its a great site, but I'm 20 and I find alot of people my age on the site are either not as serious as I am or they are 120lbs and looking to loose another 10. I need to loose about 40lbs so I talk to older women who struggle like I do.

Kate
Even though I live on the other end of the planet (Greece), by chance I found a store that sells People magazine. Despite the $9 price tag (ouch, it's expensive here!), I saw you and the other women on the cover and decided to buy it. After reading your story and seeing how magnificent you look I was totally inspired to both start a weight loss program and join this site which I am finding amazing. After trying a billion times to lose weight I decided to try a billion and one, starting yesterday. Thanks for the inspiration...I have more than 100 pounds to lose and seeing people who have done it without surgery is a breath of fresh air! I don't feel as though it's hopeless anymore. Congrats!

I never read People Magazine but I picked up that particular copy. Kate's story really resonated for me. I'm also a long time weight loser and I've taken off more than 75 pounds since about 2002. I was in a gaining cycle since the beginning of the year and needed to do something to re-engage. This is a great place to find community and support. We all learn from each other and are inspired by each other. So I am glad I found the site from People Mag...feels a little like fate!
Making these changes is about awareness, practice, finding appropriate supports, community, inspiration, resiliance and hanging in there because it gets tough sometimes....and we will all have tough days. It's about experimentation and making your own path (instead of lock step following someone elses). It's about making changes as your life changes. It's about tuning into the seasons. It's about looking at the context of our lives.
Feels like such a great endeavor...this PT project.

Me too!
I gained weight in third year university (7 years ago). Since then I've been in a losing battle to lose the last 15 lbs (sometimes it's been less, sometimes more). When I saw the magazine I was already attempting to change my habits and really failing. I have been on this website for a week today and I finally can see a healthier future. I really can see myself logging until I'm 80 :). Today is my official weigh day (I'm working nights now) and from my daily weighing it looks as though I'm down 3lbs. Thank you to People for the story and to PT for giving us all this great service.

Yes - I went straight to this site after reading the articles in People. I also looked at coolrunning.com (I think).

Just read the People article yesterday and here I am!
Friday, June 1, 2007, 1:26 PM
I read the article in PEOPLE today, while waiting an hour for my Drs appt to review the sleep study I had done a month ago. I considered ripping the article out of the magazine and stashing it in my purse, but decided to write the web address down in my food journal. Too funny.
Anyways, I just wanted to say that I think this site is awesome and I want to be a success story too. So, thanks and I look forward to your support in my quest to lose the 100lbs that I really need to lose.
