Bottle tans
I'm a fair skinned, freckled chick wanting to know if anyone recommends a good self tanner. I don't want to end up looking like an orange carrot... any suggestions? Do you apply with gloves? I'm curious, this would potentially be my first time trying it out.

I am also very fair skinned I got this Nivea sun kissed firming lotion that is supposed to gradually give you a tanner look. After 3 days I stopped cause it was already dark enough on me, anything much darker would have looked too fake.
I am happy with the results. I don't use gloves but I wash my hands after and no orange hands.

I like the Jergens Natural Glow. I apply every day for 3-4 days and then every other day keeps me looking like I have just a bit of color. Btw: I am very fair skinned and find many bottle products look rather oviously fake on me. Make sure you exfoliate though because it looks exagerated on dead skin (like calluses).

I second the Jergens. You don't need to wear gloves, but wash your hands after applying so it doesn't get stuck in the cracks of your knuckles. It adds color slowly enough that it's hard to mess up.

1:11 poster here. I can eventually tan, but it takes a looong time. We're talking a couple weeks of 2 hrs a day (I was not immune to the allure of a tan in HS). the surprising thing is that despite how fair I am ('china doll' and 'vampire' are two descriptions people frequently use) I really don't burn easily either although it happens more often than a tan. That's why I turned to fake tanning - I can have one whenever I want one. I do wear sunscreen though to protect against UV rays and hopefully lessen my chances of melanoma.

I've tried a few different ones (I have dark hair and fair skin so I look dead half of the time, ha) and so far my favorite is the lotion by Vaseline that has a bit of self tanner in it. I actually had people ask me if I'd gone somewhere because I looked tan.
