What Food Do You Wish McDonalds had on their menu?

I have such a hard time eating well when I go out. I wish I could get a plate of rice and beans with a side of some veggie at McDonalds. Something like that. If they have breakfast burritos, why not rice and beans? Or McFalafel?

I could go for skewers of bite-sized, grilled 'McVeggies' - 4 sticks to a fry-sized box, seasoned and easy to eat in the car. I'm a little sick of salads as the only alternative to fries.

Spinach salad with some chick peas, broccoli, avocado and chicken. And some tasty sugar free tea. If Starbucks can sell piles of tea, so can McDonalds. Green tea, lime tea, earl grey. Think outside the bun!

Here here!

Need some veggies on their menu, and sugarless drinks that rock, bean dishes, veggie burgers, etc. So sick of fast food places not getting it.

Beans and salsa would be extraordinary. How about steamed vegetables as a side dish? I second the chick peas with avocado, a three bean salad of sorts. Yum.

I like the idea fo the grilled skewers of veggies - with grilled chicken bites - that would be great! And a balck bean burger on a fast food menu would be tops!

It ain't gonna happen. No offense, but stop wishing and start doing.

If you are serious about what you put inside your bodies, if you are firm in meeting your health and fitness goals, then you shouldn't be wishing or relying on something like a fast food franchise to assist you. Honestly, a big part of why I was feeling so run down and why I now dedicate time to hit the gym is because I justified eating junk with not having enough time in my day.

The reason fast food chains do not serve these types of food is because of cost. Healthy, live foods have a shelf life far lesser than say, A grade B frozen beef pattie. They serve salads because they are cheap. Tomatoes, are a pretty staple item at burger joints, so there is no loss there. You might see a cucumber every once in awhile or some shredded carrot if the salads are pre-pack. Fast food joints are just that, why wish for more...

Most all deli's offer veggie and lean meat sandwich varieties and a lot of them offer a pretty healthy soup of the day. Subway has a 6g of fat and less menu also. Grocery deli's have tabouli salads, multi-bean salads, tahini, hummus, veggie burgers and many other high protein, lower fat foods.

Once you really get into your groove, you will find you want to prepare most of your meals so you know exactly what is in them. Also, in time with healthy exercise, you tend to have more energy...no matter how long your days tend to be. With that new found energy, you can plan your weekly meals and actually have good quality family time preparing the dishes for the week.

And I concur , the smell of McD's is quite disgusting!

No one can fix you but you.

i don't eat at mcdonalds mostly because they don't offer anything i would ever eat. i thought the question was aimed at anyone, not just those who actually eat there. if they offered something like a 3-bean salad, i would not trust that the oil and salt used to mass-produce the salad were healthy choices. too bad Boca-Burger doesn't open a fast-veggie-food chain! they would hit it big!

I used to love McDs. But haven't eaten there in over a year. I started reading too much about the food and got grossed out. Also, at two separate places I saw roaches and a man go into cardiac arrest. Those two things alone have been enough to keep me away for the last year. I'm better off for it too.

A salad that tasted good. Is that too hard because they can't use the chemicals they use in the burgers?

This thread reminds me of the old Supersize me movie. Is that what it was called? With the experiment to see how long the Mcdonalds food lasted??? LOL.
I wish that they would have an actual healthy turkey burger. I too am also very sick of fries as the only alternative. Perhaps some raw veggies and dip? Healthier stuff on the menu would be nice, but then again it wouldn't be McDonalds if it was healthy would it???

for kids

how about a non-fried chicken nugget thing, or chicken and potatoes rather than fries.
how about they DON'T include the caramel dippy stuff w/ the apples? why would i choose the apples for my kids if i wanted them to dip them? i never give that part to my kids, but i've also asked them to not put it in the bag, and they do every time.
as for 6:01-- you're absolutely right in everything you said. however, sometimes when i'm on a road trip, there's really no place to stop and eat except fast food, unless i want to sit down for an hour waiting for table service. and sometimes i'm with other people who want to go there, so it would be nice to have better alternatives.

how about no food. how about no mcdonald's? these places shouls have labels from the surgeon general on every product they sell, explianing the dangers of consuming too much or on a regular basis. alcohol and cigarettes have labels to alert the consumer to the health risks, why NOT fast food, too?

To be fair to Mc Donalds, they actually have some healthy items on the menu. THe problem is, no one ever orders them, so there's very little incentive for them to change the menu. They'd be fools to change their menu to food that people say they want but never actually order...

Last week, I had to stop at a Mc Donalds for lunch (only close, fast option available at the time) I could have ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and an apple, but I gotta admit, I ordered the double quarter pounder value meal instead...

So, I guess if I want them to offer healther options, I've got to actually order the healthy options they offer.

McDonald's

I only go to McDonald's once in a great while, and I really like their Asian chicken salad... but no fail, they ALWAYS screw up my order. I think that if you don't order something with 2500 calories, it just gets them all confused... So I mostly stick to Subway...

Free food...anything free. That'll make me extremely happy....but that's a dream.

What would I like them to have????hmmm....how about baked chicken with skin? Okay, without the skin. That would be good. And how about more veggies than their salads???

YUCK

I am 36 years old and have found that the food at mcdonalds just doesnt taste like it used to back in the days. I realize they've made some changes that are supposed to be healthier, but i'm not even talking about that. the special sauce on the big mac, the milkshakes, it's all horrible. the only thing i order from mcdz if there is no other choice is the french fries (and they better be hot) or a salad, which I hate to pay so much money for because it's usually not worth it.

i had a fruit parfait recently and it made me sick.

Wow. Interesting to think that some people can eat this food for LUNCH. Aren't you tired and sick the rest of the day? I would think you'd get a major stomach ache...maybe not? I haven't eaten McD's in about 7 years and before that it was once a year-how can you eat that food????IT's so fake and bad for you. How is it better to eat a quarter pounder meal than to just go hungry for while? Weird

I wish they offered a lettuce-wrapped burger. A cheeseburger there (not a quarter-pounder, big mac, etc. Just a cheeseburger.) has 250 cals. Most of those calories are bun, not the rest. If I could get a double-cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce, it'd be fatty and over-processed, but not so bad from a calorie standpoint, and good and filling.

ooooh, yeah! wrap my crap in a lettuce leaf, please. as long as it's low calorie, i don't care how it's made or what it does to me.

gross!! when are people going to wake up and CARE?

The idea of eating a double-cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce is hilarious. I just laughed out loud thinking of the visual. Who actually thinks that eating there is a good idea in the first place? SOOOO processed and sooooo bad for you. ewww..yuck. I truly think of eating garbage and feces is equal to eating a double-cheeseburger from that swill hole. yuck.

seriously, at least w/ garbage and feces, you expect to be sick!! i went into a mcd's to use the rest room and there was NO SOAP!!! in fact, an employee had just left as i was walking in. hmmmmm. how did she wash her hands? i informed the manager about the situation and wrote an email to the local health department. just because i don't eat there doesn't mean i want other people to get ill !!!
