Gym bag that does not look like a gym bag!

I am looking for a bag that is large enough to hold my gym clothes and sneakers, lotions, etc. but doesn't look like the typical gym bag.

I live in New York and I use public transportation all the time. I go to the gym in the mornings then straight to work and then I run errands after work. I want a bag that doesn't scream GYM BAG!!! especially when I want to dress nicely. Any suggestions on what can pass for a gym bag, but looks like a big handbag?

Don't know if this is what you had in mind, but I went to a sample sale for my favorite designer (Isabella Fiore) and picked up a very fashionable diaper bag that functions perfectly as a gym bag. :) Most designers make large totes that would also work. I'd try to find a sample sale, which really shouldn't be hard in NY, so you don't pay a ton for it. I know Isabella bags can run as much as $700-$800 at regular stores.
Hope this helps!! :)

I

Hi there, that is a problem a lot of women have.
I make bags for my self. I have this one, that I have a lot of pockets on the inside so I can put my brush, sampoo bottles etc. but on the outside it just looks like a large tote.

here is my website if you want to check out my work.

I love to do custom orders. But I do love Kat's idea too. :)

Good luck to you.

Tumi has some amazing gym bags that are versatile and beautiful. They run about $200, but I think they're worth it.
Good luck!

Bath and Body Shop

I got a great bag for B&B for 25 bucks with a purchase. I don't know if the promotion is still going on. It's big enough to carry a laptop in. It came in red or pink with a faux croc material. I get compliments on it all the time.

You can definitely get large bags in all styles and sizes. Try Target and any department store - they have lots of big totes for the summer.

Definitely check out the diaper bag section. I found that Buy Buy Baby has a great selection. I got a black faux leather diaper bag there that would be right at home being carried to the office or while I'm dressed up. It doesn't look anything like a diaper bag. While I actually use it as a diaper bag/pures, it would easily hold workout stuff.

And you don't need to spend a fortune - my diaper bag was in the $25 to $50 range.

Vera Bradley

I second the Vera Bradley idea. The bags are lightweight and come in feminine prints. Can double as weekend luggage... if your gym stuff isn't too stinky :)

i use a big Timbuk2 messenger bag as my gym bag. you can design your own using different colors, but my plain back and silver one is sleek and awesome. i've had a few of their bags- they last literally for years (i've been using one since '03, used it all through college, and it still looks awesome)!
