I cam across an article recently which showed evidence that coffee may make weight loss more difficult, if that's your goal.

Green tea is highly praised. It's full of antioxidants and has been shown to boost the metabolism. Every bit helps.

So tea would be a better option healthwise and weightwise.

Tea - even good ol' Lipton - contains beneficial anti-oxidants, and the average cup has less than half the caffeine of coffee. Most diets recommend minimizing caffeine intake, though I'm not sure why as long as you're consuming plenty of water as well.

I've always felt that giving up caffeine for the sake of weight loss was a bit like overkill. I mean, you're giving up so much other important stuff like sugar and saturated fat and white bread, why throw in something not-so-bad just because drinking water is better?

I say just drink what you like, but remember moderation. A cup of tea and/or a cup of tea never killed anyone. Just go slow on that sugar you put into that cuppa.

There has been reports that caffeine helps boost performance for athletes before a competition. If they can...why can't we? We're competitng with ourselves right? :D

Green Tea Works Great

Green Tea is very healthy, but I can actually notice that it will help to reduce my appetite.

I agree with the poster who said we are giving up so much other stuff. Please, please don't take my coffee away from me. I'll eat all the tofu you want me to, I promise.

And I also agree with the poster who says that caffeine boosts the performance of athletes. Caffeine used to be banned as a performance-enhancing drug at the olympics. Link provided so you don't think I'm making this up.

I've always found that coffee supresses my appetite and helps me avoid over eating... but what are theses new articles that say it works against that? I take my coffee without sugar and with a little bit of fat free half and half, do you think this is preventing me from losing weight? I love coffee! now I'm scared!

Both have caffeine and both give people different benefits. I think you don't have to choose one or the other, just drink the one you feel like having.
They have actually found that coffee is good for diabetics and also jump starting your metabolism. Tea does have antioxidants, both have been drunk for centuries don't fret over what you hear.
