OT: waxing
Anyone tried waxing their armpits? I'm thinking about it, but not sure how long it will last. Worth the expense? I never feel like I get a great shave there, so looking for options.

I've never tried waxing my armpits because my shave there is fine, but I wax my bikini line, brows and lip and I absolutely LOVE it! If you get the same results with armpits and that's something you have a problem with than I would say it's totally worth the expense, but since veryone is different, so are their opinions and results, I would definitely recommend that you try it at least once, maybe a couple of times, to see how you feel about it! Good luck.

I bought a good quality epilator about two years ago (about $120) and use it everywhere, including under the arms. Takes about five seconds for each, there's barely any hair left there, and I do it every couple of weeks. Bad side is, while I feel nothing now, the first few times were very painful (same goes for elsewhere). God knows the money I've saved doing this, be it on razor blades or waxing, but then I've always been a bit tight when it comes to shelling out for stuff I can do just as well or better myself. Definitely worth the initial discomfort.

Tried to wax under my arms myself once--wasn't a good idea for me (should have tried something easier like the legs to start). Once I put the strip on and was ready to pull it off I had this instant thought that this was REALLY going to hurt!! Yeah, it did!! I ripped it off and ended up with a few spots of blood under my arm. Needless to say, that was the only strip I tried and I went straight to the shower and shaved after that!! :)
But I have been to a bikini waxer (a far more sensitive area) and I can say that someone that knows what they are doing can create amazing results that last for quite a while.
They only annoyance with waxing any part of your body is that you have to let the hair grow in a bit before you can do it...

I've had my underarms waxed 3 times now, for holidays. It hurt like hell the first time, more painful than my legs or bikini line, but I think the pain varies from person to person. The subsequent times hurt less (I think the follicle becomes weakened with repeated waxing), and the results lasted about 3 weeks. I think if you do it regularly the hair starts to get thinner and it would last longer. I find that my underarms get irritated if I shave them too often, so waxing before a holiday is better for me.
