coconut water

i come from a country where coco water is commonly taken not for weight loss, but to cleanse out your urinary tract. it's usually taken by women for urinary tract infections and men for difficulty in urinating. sort of like the cranberry juice here, i guess... coconut water from the real young fresh coconuts has also been successfully used as an emergency substitute for dextrose!!! if you can take the coconut water fresh from the shell (not packaged) then this can only do you good... much much healthier than soda.

I have been told that coconut water can act as a laxative. I haven't experienced it first hand, but just be careful drinking too much.

For me one the main benefits of coconut water is that it has few calories, I love coconuts and coconut products but I don't drink coconut milk cause it has many calories. I've also read that coconut water is a natural source of electrolytes, see this article for example. That's why it can also be used as a sport drink.
