Has the early sunset affected your workout plans?
I find that I am having a hard time going to the gym because it is dark earlier. Does anyone else have this problem??

TOTALLY. Totally, totally. I feel like going to sleep at 6pm! I guess I should switch it to the morning but I always workout at night.

yes
I always start getting bummed out this time of year, and find it harder to get to the gym. The cold doesn't help either -- I have to change at the gym, instead of just walking there in my gym clothes, which is an added step between me and my procrastination.
Also, I can't run outside anymore, which I prefer over treadmill.

I don't like walking to the gym by myself after dark so the time change has become another obstacle to get over when I'm debating rather to go to the gym or not.

Yes, it makes it harder. Since it is dark when I get home, I don't like to walk alone at night. For some reason when it is dark out, I just don't feel like leaving the house when I get home. But, I am going to do it, it is worth it, right?

I'm in the same boat too! I used to be able to walk home from work but now I can't because it's too dark and everyone else thinks it's not safe. I'm not a morning person so I rather work out after work. I don't belong to a gym so I'm really stuck. Help!!!

You can always get some workout tapes, or join a gym with a parking lot that you can drive to, if you have a car. Or, if you don't want to deal with all the contracts, initiation fees, etc., check out group exercise classes at a local community center, YMCA, or JCC. Most have classes for non-members. If you sign up and pre-pay, you'll find yourself committed to be there - it becomes a real appointment! And you'll meet new friends in the class!

Me too! So my groups (i have two) have made some goals:
Both goals are for the entire group, so if one person is lazy, at least they bug the rest of us to go to the gym. (And the rest get tired and bug him/her back)
1. 20 hours group total at the gym.
2. 10 hours group total for cardio excercises. (3 person group)
Should be motivating. Beat the dark!

YES-for the better
I workout first thing in the morning, so having light and sun when I get up makes it easier to get up and get going.

I like the idea of having group goals - 20 gym hours total is a stellar way to think about it. It's also an interesting way to think about a whole week's worth of exercise for one person...as in, I'm going to get 5 gym-hours in this week. I like that.
