Sure, it's possible to lose 30 pounds. Goals are good but it doesn't always pay to have a really aggressive deadline for them. 2 pounds a week is usually considered safe, 1 pound a week is really fine and probably easier to sustain. These are averages and you shouldn't expect to lose at an exact and constant rate no matter what you do. If you are losing, then eventually you will get to where you want to be. 10 pounds by Thanksgiving would not be a good thing to try, not starting now! 3 for sure, try for 5 maybe?

losing weight

You CAN lose weight! I've lost 15 pounds in the last 3 months and it's actually staying off because I did not crash diet or try fads. I simply starting using the basic weight principles (lots of veggies, less sugar, less pasta and bread). I also work out every other day. 30 minutes of walking or biking 4 times a week and a 50-minute strength training class two times a week. I've gotten very good results with the mix of cardio and strength training. My abs look especially good. I can't stop eating the things I want to eat, like cookies and chocolate. So I limit myself to one or two cheat days, where I have the treats I want. I also incorporate new workouts into my life. Less food, more motion--that's the real key to permanent weight loss. Good luck!!
