it's sad that so many celebrities' private lives are exploited like this in the media. and that people with nothing better to do buy and read these trash mags!! when will they come out with a magazine called "You Weekly" and tell tales of regular peoples' marriages and relationships and hook-ups? is it the stories that are interesting or the fact that we can see these people on tv and in movies that makes their lives interesting? i don't need any of it!!

Seriously, get a life

I read a lot of fashion magazines and occassionally will pick up US or some other tabloid, but I don't take the articles seriously.

Now, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, there is so much speculation about him controlling her, etc. I say leave them alone, they are an odd couple, but who cares. We don't know them, we only know of what is said or written about them. How would you like it if things were being said about you, true or not.....wouldn't you just want you privacy for goodness sakes?

if my life was being gossiped about on a magazine at the check-out counter, i would expect people to discuss it. it's on a magazine for jack's sake! it's about entertainment, not invasion. someone is just writing a story and putting faces to it. maybe it is all fantasy but that's why it's interesting...just like the movies...

actually, the censorship gnomes have made another appearance. there was a comment calling someone a name and then making an assumption about that person's lack of wealth. very charged and condescending and mean-spirited. one of the few times i'm glad to see a censor step in. i would have liked for them to step in when i was referred to as ..."fat and probably eating donuts right now.", but what can you do?

Wow, I can't imagine calling someone name calling or making assumptions about their class/money orientation on a thread! Its sort of sad that people are so bitter. I mean, its a thread about celebrities! We're aren't debating global warming!

That said, the celebrity gossip industry is thriving, and that industry depends on celebrities, and celebrities often depend on that industry to gain some notoriety, which is part of the way they make some of their dollars. So no person should be telling others to 'leave those celebs alone' and to stop talking about them (unless it was violent or harrassment, of course). Its just the way the machine works, and if we get some casual enjoyment through idle banter, then so be it!

Is it me or does anybody else remember this, it has been bugging me since they got together, which I think is a really strange match. Maybe I'm showing my age here but does anyone remember when Tom Cruise was married to Mimi Rogers, way back when, and they divorced because she wanted to have children and he couldn't have kids because he was sterile? He even came out on national tv and said this was the reason they divorced. Do you all also remember the thing about part of the reason for the split up between Tom and Nicole? She was supposedly pregnant and he was insanely angry because he can't have kids and so he accused her of cheating, how else did she become pregnant? So everyone out there so enraptured with Tom and Katie I am going to ask, how exactly did this get past everyone without so much of a question about Mimi and Nicole? Did he just suddenly become unsterile? To my knowledge this isn't possible. Whatever the case, I used to like Tom Cruise when he was just a quite, nice guy, and I like Katie, but ever since he started opening his trap and preaching and making himself be known I can't stand him. There is something just off about the whole couple.

10:10 I totally remember those incidents, curious how the media and mags don't seem to be mentioning these facts. I agree since Tom Cruise has become a preachy Scientologist I can't stand him either. Has anyone really read what the scientology really is about. They don't even put it out there, you have to actually prove yourself worthy of being one of them before you can join their little cult. And that is what it is a cult, made up by a sexual deviant. Its amazing some of the stuff they will do to protect themselves. Its less amazing to me the so many celebrities are scientologists.

Actually, very early on, Intouch and a couple of the others did ask the question of how it was possible for Katie to be having Tom's kid since he had been so public about being sterile. But those stories went away real fast, espiecally when Tom expressed anger over them. I still think I'd like to see the results of a parentity test on their kid though. It's the gossip in me - is she really Tom's kid or not?

I am a gay woman and tom cruise always pings my gaydar !!! I honestly think he is gay and this whole marriage to Katie is just a sham. Regarding his marriage to Mimi Rodgers , I think once in an interview she mentioned that part of the reason for their divorce was that he regarded his "instrument " as pure and didn't want to use it much with her !
Also, does anyone else notice in interviews that he is always so general in his comments about Katie? always , she is amazing, wonderful , etc..never any specifics. It's like he is following some script on this is how a straight man talks about his wife. It always strikes me as very fake. According to different gossips , the current head guy at Scient. is his boyfriend. He was the best man at the wedding , and Tom brought him along on the honeymoon !! that alone , should say something ! anyway, I think living this deeply closeted life might be part of the reason he seems to be having a public meltdown. You can only hate who you are for so long before you have a nervous breakdown of some sorts !

Yeah, ever since him and Nicole split he's been crazed. All out public which I find odd since he was so hush hush. I too also think that he is a closeted gay, in fact I always thought he was gay. I also remember Mimi Rogers making that comment about him not wanting to use his penis. Bizarre, I think Katie Holmes has good potential, look at Wonder Boys, The Gift but now I feel sorry for her. I had a poster of "Ponch" from CHIPS on my wall in the 70's. (Erik Estrada for you young 'uns) Am I ever glad I didn't marry him! Also, I LOVED Tom Cruise in Taps, Risky Business, Top Gun. And then the flame started going out. I don't mind looking at him but I couldn't care less about what he has to say. As far as Katie goes, it is what it is. If it doesn't work they'll divorce. He has a proven track record for that. And why doesn't Scientology balk at that? I mean, don't take meds if you're unhappy and unbalanced but if you're unhappy in marriage, end it. Makes no sense to me.

I'm another gay person who thinks tom cruise is deeply in the closet. I remember reading about a man who filed a lawsuit against the church of Scientology for fraud. He claimed that one of the reasons he joined the church was that they promised him they could "cure" him of his homosexuality. He said they presented Tom Cruise and John Travolta as examples of gay men turned straight ! yeah , right. Tom is in a sham marriage to Katie and I think the same for John. John has been named by numerous male masseurs as one of those very hands on clients ! Haven't you ever wondered why John has so many close female friends who adore him ? Oprah , Kirstie Allie, etc..I think because he is the fun , safe , gay male friend !! I think people would be shocked if they were told how many actors are really gay. I also think it reallys sucks that so many of them have to live this deeply closeted life.

Okay i don't like Scientology and it is very hush, hush about what they really believe in and who they let in. BUT I have met John Travolta about a dozen times and I can say he is very friendly and is some what of a touchy feely type of person. He is very nice and nice that he doesn't spout about his beliefs or his religion. I have also met his wife and they seem like a definite couple.
